I told you, it’s always ddddeeee…
For the rest, it’s such a bizarre idea for a live-action film that…well, I’m intrigued at least.
That’s…Strange.
“Dumbo” is among my favourite Disney’s movies, and I usually like Burton a lot, so I’m curious to see this but still, it’s a bit frightening.I’m sure it would have a great score, the animated classic is largely a silent movie and these movies tend to have wonderful music regardless of quality. I’m listening to Cinderella and it’s wonderful, though apparently the movie is actually really good too.
But I was kind of hoping Burton would stay away from the bigger movies, at least for a while.
Looks like this is Burton’s next movie after all.
FYI, Tom Hanks is in talks to play the main vilain. Will Smith was also in talks for a while but it didn’t work out (not that I’m complaining).
After Silvestri replacing Williams on Ready Player One (which I’m still excited about!) I wish we’d get some Elfman confirmation on this one.
Disney posted a press release detailing the cast and crew – no composer listed. 🙁
With a release so far away, I wouldn’t count Elfman’s omission in the crew list as anything indicative. Still, I’m not getting a good vibe about the Elfman-Burton relationship lately…
Because I’m cool, I checked previous start-of-production press releases and Elfman was included on those for Alice in Wonderland and Dark Shadows (and Alice Through the Looking Glass); Frankenweenie and Big Eyes didn’t have any (though he was confirmed for Frankenweenie a year and a half in advance) and no composer was listed on the Miss Peregrine one.
This is such a huge musical opportunity that I need Elfman on-board. More importantly, I don’t want a Burton/Keaton reunion set to anyone else’s music.
