The helicopter sequence was written by Jonathan Sheffer and if I remember correctly it sort of skirts away from any full blown statements of Elfman’s theme, but orchestrationally is inline with the rest of the score.

Danny — I will be adding video clips from the various DVDs that feature Elfman interviews as well as scoring session footage. If you already have these DVDs, the videos won’t be much of a surprise, but for other casual surfers I think they’ll be a lot of fun.

Mike this site has been around technically since 1996. It really became a real serious site in ’97.

Mordred is an Arthurian legend name I think.

Howard Shore liked Elfman’s SPIDER-MAN 2 when I played it for him. So, in some ways, he is a buddy.

Benoit — isn’t that your job to analyze the piece?

    Good luck on your exam.

I’m not sure to be honest. I’ve considered going to the concert, but to hear it only once would drive me mad… And if it did come out on CD, the effort to get to NYC only to be able to hear it on CD layer… Would drive me mad!

It is from Danny Elfman’s score. It’s on the BATMAN RETURNS album. Go ahead and buy it and I’ll point out which track.

It’d be great to see Michael Keaton regain his deserved good cred. I’m going to see WHITE NOISE when it opens to support the guy, despite the fact that I am weary it’s a piece of crap!

in reply to: “Danny Elfman’s Batman” – the book #53061
    rkeaveney

I ordered the book from Amazon.com and it’s fantastic. It actually carves a pretty wide path around Elfman’s BATMAN score, first going through his entry to film scoring, his influences, his relationship with Burton, and a history of BATMAN on film, before moving into the score itself. The theory never gets too deep (although there is deconstruction of the major themes), and the author, Janet K. Halfyard, always relates each idea in the score back to the film and what it’s trying to do.

It’s a book about Danny Elfman’s BATMAN score. What more do you need!?!? :)

He wrote music for the sequence, but it may not have been used in it’s entirety.

You may very well be right, Thor. I get a ton of emails each year from people who are using Elfman’s music in their films and want to know if they can e-mail him to get permission(!!!)

The inclusion of copywritten, non-original music, in a film usually disqualifies it from festival showings…

in reply to: Why do movie trailers use music from other movies? #52976

Because they cut trailers and previews long before the score is written and recorded.

Cut too quickly to get too much of an impression, but I thought JNH’s original music for the trailer (if that is indeed the case) was lacking any identifiable motifs… And the end title card sounded like TERMINATOR!

Sigh. My dream was to see an R-Rated live action TRANSFORMERS movie directed by Paul Verhoeven, with practical Transformers designed by Stan Winston, a la the animatronic T-Rex from JURASSIC PARK.
