Tonight was the one with the “celebrity” guest panel. When I called about it on the phone a couple of days ago, I asked who would be on the panel and the not-so-nice woman told me Henry Selick “and other people”. (BTW, I’ve NEVER spoken to someone at that number who sounded like they were having anything but a miserable day . . . ) I feel gypped because Henry Selick wasn’t there . . . or Catherine O’Hara or Glenn Shadix or any of the other “regulars”. Instead we got a bunch of people with some kinda half-assed ties to NMBC . . . at least from the point of view of somebody who isn’t terribly thrilled about hearing from stop-motion animators. The only person I had heard of was Chris Sarandon (who was kind of fun to have around). On the bright side . . . even though Tim Burton wasn’t able to make it this year, he and Danny Elfman both had videotaped messages for tonight. Fun times . . .
