GuestDoes anyone know anything about the aria in Beetlejuice where Lydia is writing her would be suicide letter? I want to know why Elfman would choose it. Perhaps if any of you could give me some insight, I’d appreciate it.
Thanks

Guestits rare the composer selects source music like that
source music is music that the characters hear or are listening to, like the radio or a CD.
these are usually selected by the music supervisor on a film, sometimes the composer may be asked to create some, danny did a small source music cue as part of his duties on chicago. that is all i know about that.

GuestYes, I know about source music. However, I thought Elfman had picked that. If it’s Donzetti’s “Lucia di Lammermoor,” then it fits quite well, although other message boards have said that is not it.
This opera is gothic in nature and has to do with feuding families and marriage against one’s will. It parallels Beetlejuice quite nicely. I think I am just going to go ahead and use it as the source for my paper.
Thank you all.
