GuestI have been searching the internet to find out what bands have claimed an influence from Oingo Boingo or Danny Elfman. Can anyone help me?

GuestGo to soundclick and search for Danny Elfman or Oingo Boingo in the “sounds like” pull down. There’s some there, and some are pretty good, but some are horrible. You just have to search a little.

GuestNo Doubt were also influenced by Oingo Boingo.
Here’s something I found on Amazon about Nirvana and Oingo Boingo:
• Excerpt from page 12 “… with. Both were at least cool enough to be into Oingo Boingo, the manic new wave band from Los Angeles. “But they …”
See more reference to oingo boingo in this book.May 6, 2004 at 10:14 pm #50004Anonymous
GuestNo Doubt’s earlier stuff was great. But now, the band’s kind of gone down the shitter, if you ask me.

GuestThat bands that are/were influenced by Boingo: Mr. Bungle, Primus, No Doubt, Nirvana, Pain(the quirky ska/punk band, not the metal band) Stolen Babies(formerly The Fratellis) etc
Bands that I’m not sure, but probably were influenced by Boingo to a certain degree-
Skeleton Key(very Boingo-like in diffrent ways, plus Elfman helped on their last album), Voodoo Glow Skulls(Avila produced 1 of their albums) Reel Big Fish(Avila produced pretty much all of their albums) 311(toured with Boingo, I can see somewhat of an influence) Offspring( I dunno, they seem like they could have been influenced by Boingo, like Agent Orange meets Boingo or somthing haha)
I think they were an all around influence amoung both modern ska/punk bands and quirky experimental rock bands(Primus, Skeleton Key, anything fronted by Mike Patton)May 8, 2004 at 1:11 am #50025Anonymous
GuestYou might want to check out “The Mollusk” by Ween. Very good music, and it’s kind of got that boingo sound in some songs.

GuestI think that I’ve heard somewhere in a few articles online that Evanscence was influenced by Danny Elfman’s music. It shows a little bit, though not very much. Not bad music, though.

GuestCheck out T Like B (tastes like burning, they go by t like b cause there is another tastes like burning haha, but t like b is way better) Very Boingo influenced as well as TMBG, The Vandals and other stuff, I’m friends with them, and I love there music, they are probably the only band that I’m friends with that I listen to and actually enjoy listening to them. Their website is down, but they do have two songs on PureVolume http://www.purevolume.com/TlikeB . Hopefully they will put up more stuff on there soon, I’ll suggest it to them, cause just 2 songs isnt enough to get a feel of what they are capeable of, however they do have one really funny electronic song called Dog Walking Backwards thats always a fun song, check it out.

GuestI listened to that “Through The Eyes” song, and I mean, you wouldnt think of Elfman really unless you were told it was influenced by him, in which we were, but knowing that it was ahead of time, I was able to see the influence, not vocally but like the orchestra synth towards the end of the clip had a sorta Batman, Batman Returns or Darkman sound to it, so I can see where he as a composer influenced the song, and the quirky energy of it was somewhat Boingo like.
If anyone still hasnt checked out T Like B yet, check em out, they are supercool, and I’m friends with them, so that obligates you all to listen to them lol, jking, check em out tho, I you like Boingo, The Vandals, TMBG and other stuff you’ll like em.

GuestHow about the Boingo Cover band that Richard Elfman Danny’s brother toured with last year? Richard starts the show by showing the old Forbidden Zone movie.
I guess your pretty good when people are trying to bring back your old music. And even better when you get paid the big bucks for the biggest movies hollywood puts out.
