ParticipantHey check this out!
Two brief clips from Batman Begins are on this myspace page! Theres a bit too much going on to really pay attention to the score but you can get a feel of what its going to be like! So far so good! No Elfman but good!

KeymasterI’ve had the CD for a week and it’s quite dull.

ParticipantThey did a Batman Begins spoof on the MTV Movie Awards (the show gets worse by the year) and they had some of the movie’s Batmobile “Tumbler” footage with the Hans Zimmer music on top of it and it seemed okay that way rather than alone, but certainly nothing special. The movie better live up to its hype or else it’ll be just like “Hulk” minus a good score…big hype for a “psychooigical comic film” and not living up to it. We shall see next week.

ParticipantIm sure it will be good! A lotta good reviews! Just hope the music fits with it! Keep hearing its boring as a stand alone score! The tracks are named weirdly also! After Types of bats i heard! How dull is it really though? is there any one track that stands out? Heard theres no easily recognizable theme! Is that true?

ParticipantWow. Not one of those sentences ended with anything other than an exclamation point or a question mark.

ParticipantI know, but still…it’s AMAZING!!!!!!!! I saw an interview with the composer of Batman Begins and talked a bit about Mr.Elfman, but I can’t remember the site name!!!! There is a link to it when you go on http://www.bluntinstrument.org.uk/elfman/ and to the message board and to the comversation started as “Batman Begins Thread”, someone posted “this is really interesting” click on it and there will be a link to the site I was talking about.
June 18, 2005 at 1:11 am #54223Danny Burton
ParticipantQ: Batman is a franchise that Danny Elfman has already given a hugely memorable theme to. What is it like when you are expected to take that music forward?
HZ: I don’t have a Batman theme. I didn’t watch the movie again, on purpose. And, when James (Newton Howard, his co-composer) and I were working in the studios, Danny was in the other room working on (Tim Burton’s) Charlie And The Chocolate Factory. So we’d kid around, and I’d ask if he wants to help with some bat-stuff. And he’d laugh and say, ‘I’ve already done it. It’s your problem now.’
It is going to be compared with his work, but I can’t help that. It’s not a fair comparison. Like when The Beatles are compared to The Stones: they may both be singing a lovesong, but that’s about all they have in common. And this is a Christopher Nolan film, which just happens to be called Batman. And that makes it completely separate from a Tim Burton film.

For some reason, I always had the impression Danny and Zimmer were not very fond one of the other. Oh well.

ParticipantThat was kinda mean on Zimmer’s part. He was rewriting a theme for a character that Danny wrote an amazing theme for 16 years ago and being like “haha it’s mine now!” It’s like making out with someone right in front of your ex’s face (I suppose that simile works). Either way, Danny’s theme has lasted all these years and is still beloved my so many, whereas this new score won’t get very far at all. Curious though that Danny was right down the hall…he must have laughed his head off triumphantly when he heard the new score. I did.

ParticipantThe score works surprisingly well in the movie. Just wish there was some sort of theme to grab on to.
