GuestOn the BATMAN soundtrack, a choir sings in Latin on the “Descent into Mystery” track. There is a song that sounds like it that I have heard on a classical radio station. What is the title of this hauntingly beautiful song?

Guestmaybe: Carmina Burana by Carl Orf ? the track: Oh Fortuna.

GuestThere is no song in “Descent Into Mystery”, because “Descent Into Mystery” is part of Elfman’s score! The choir is not singing lyrics but vocal excercises like “Fah, soh, lah, tee, doh”, etc.

GuestWell, OF COURSE IT’S DANNY ELFMAN’S SCORE, but there is a song that sounds a bit like it. I’m NOT saying Mr. Elfman “copied” this tune AT ALL, but does anyone know the name of that similar tune, anyway?

GuestI have no idea why people misunderstood your post. I think it was perfectly clear what you where asking for.
As yurisius pointed it out before: The tune you’re looking for is probably “O Fortuna” from Carmina Burana by Carl Orff.February 2, 2004 at 3:29 pm #47930Anonymous

GuestAlso, another track that sounds like “Descent into Mystery” is Verdi’s “Requiem Mass Dies Irae.” Check it out.

Guest“O Fortuna” has been in so many movies, everyone knows it by now, and
it doesn’t sound anything like “Descent into Mystery” – are you possibly thinking of the middle section (“semper crescit/et decrescit…”) which has the rather insistent rhythmic figure under the chorus? They are both in minor keys, and that’s about it. “Descent into Mystery” doesn’t sound like any part of Carmina Burana, nor of Verdi’s Requiem. I sang in both those choral pieces last year, so I know. (Now when am I going to get to sing in the chorus for an Elfman composition?!)However, I do heartily recommend Verdi’s Requiem for your listening pleasure, as I think any Elfman fans would enjoy it.

p.s. At least nobody on this thread mentioned “Mars”, from Holst’s “The Planets”.
