    Hey all…

Just got back from seeing Spiderman (hey, I’ve been busy!)

To skip all the obvious superlatives, I have one thing to say of the movie (and the score) above all else:

Did it strike anyone that the whole film was told as a love story? To my mind it was – the teenage crush that everyone has… etc… Or does that say more about me than the movie?

I thought that Raimi specifically focussed on the (very intimate) MJ and Pete scenes. Similarly, Elfman writes some of the most beautifully wistful and warm music to accompany those scenes. The highlight of the score for me.

    Just a thought.

Oh and just to reaffirm yet again: what were those neanderthals moaning about the lack of a “theme” – check out the triumphant theme statement as spiderman swoops to save the boy from the falling\rolling globe! Brilliant.

Great writing for the fight in the burning building too.

    Heck, great writing. (Full stop).

Better late than never. Elfman continues to amaze and enchant.

P.S. Sorry to hear about the possibly hoax interview with Elfman. I did think that what I was reading was everything I wanted to hear but… let’s hope it isn’t a fraud!

I agree, The spiderman theme is well pronounced throughout the movie.Althought I do have one chritisism and that is that parts of the score seems to replicate in no uncertain way the theme of Batman…but that isn’t really ba bad thing because Batman in my opinionis His second best work…his best being,of coarse, Edwars Scissorhands!!!Thats all from me, however, and my last comment refers to thewhole love story comment,In my opinion the movie would be far more unstuck without it….but then again thats just my opinion!

Granted my copy of the Spiderman score hasn’t made its way across the atlantic yet but, remembering the film I don’t remember any moments which “replicated” Batman. Which bits do you mean?

Secondly, I think the movie was all the better for being focussed on Peter’s relationships with MJ, Uncle Ben and Aunt May. I think Stan Lee the reason he liked it most was because of the “heart” behind the action!
