I’m not a big fan of Blink 182, although I think they made one of the funniest videos ever (“All The Small Things”). I admit I started to respect them a lot more when I saw them praising the great They Might Be Giants in the “Gigantic” DVD (a great documentary, whether you are a fan or not of They Might Be Giants) and now, I respect them even more, since I found out that in their song “I Miss You” they sing these lyrics: “Hello there the angel from my nightmare / The shadow in the background of the morgue / The unsuspecting victim of darkness in the valley / We can live like Jack and Sally if we want / Where you can always find me / And we’ll have Halloween on Christmas / And in the night we’ll wish this never ends / We’ll wish this never ends”. Cool!

What other Jack and Sally? “Duh” what? Am I supposed to feel stupid or something?

“We can live like Jack and Sally”? “And we’ll have Halloween on Christmas”? OK, that would be quite a coincidence…

I’m not really a big fan of Blink either because I can’t stand the lead singer’s voice. Why is it that bands like that feel the need to put on this stupid whiny cheerleading voice? However, I really like their new song – “Down”.

Yeah, well I have NO respect whatsoever for a band that releases a song about “fucking a dog up the ass”. I’ts simply the lowest of the low, the saddest of the sad… What were they thinking!?

I love blink 182, I’m not gonna deny it, it seems to be more “un cool” to like blink by younger people nowadays than it is older people lol. I was 14 when I first got into Blink and I’m 20 now, so yes I guess I can consider myself a longtime fan now. Their newest album is good, however, I can’t say its anything immortal tho, I mean it’s really cool that they’ve matured, tho they’ve been maturing style-wise for quite some time now, and always have been compared to alot of punk based bands, However the thing that lacks on the new album is that it’s trying to hard to be very dramatic and it almost seems like they are going to far with the retro 80’s(mainly the Cure) sound, I mean you can use that influence with out sounding to much like it, I’ve never been much of a Cure fan, but like its neat how they kinda tribute that both in style and with Robert Smith’s cameo. I really liked the album at first, but after awhile, it’s like, I wish they could have done more for it. However I’m glad to see the more mature side of the band, I just wish they could be more creative with it.

However, I must agree, with those who find Tom’s voice annoying, lol, tho he sings in several songs I like, I dont like the whiney vocals, I’ve always preferd Marks vocals, and alot of the songs Tom sings are kinda lame, Thats why I couldnt really get into that Box Car Racer band, more mature or not, i’m just not a fan of his voice.

Speaking of TMBGs. I loved their children’s CD “No!” which has funny little interactive ‘games’ and animation that match the songs on the CD. The song “I Am Not Your Broom” is particularly funny with the animation.
