GuestWhen somebody talks about a Danny Elfman score they always say “original and just plain bizarre”. I guess that’s true. I’ve understood all of Elfman’s music till now!! The MIB 2 score is just beyond my mind. SORRY! I think i’ll give it time. Sorry if I’ve upset somebody. The score is definitely original, but it’s just too weird for me!

GuestDamn…This Mib 2 score is just constantly using the main theme in different variations. OVER and OVER and OVER again.i don’t think there’s ONE cue that doesn’t have it, unles it’s #11 “the whole story.” Elfman’s using alot of synth now, too. I can’t say this is a bad thing, but my guess is that sooner or later i’m just gonna get tired of hearing it and file this one away.

GuestDobbs: I did that already with “The Frighteners.”
I don’t believe it’s heresy to admit that there are works, even whole albums, by Elfman that we don’t care to listen to. Actually, the people who worship him as a god and own everything he’s done and listen to nothing else are the wackos.
I wasn’t too thrilled with MIB II either. Opening credits felt like a car trying to lurch its way forward, what with strong moments, then weak moments, then back to strong moments. He did have some neat moments, but overall, this one is no chart-topper.
(Not that I’d mind owning it, but it’ll have to be a present to me from someone else.)
