I just wanted to get some feedback from some fellow Elfman fans. I sculpt for a living and I was planning on sculpting a portrait of Danny and having it cast in bronze. I would like to cast only a small limited edition. My question is how to depict Danny. I’d like to here or in this case read your suggestions as to how you think he should be portayed. I was thinking of may’be sculpting him in an action pose playing a xylophone or perhaps a large drum with mallets in his hands while singing. May’be someone else has a different idea of how I should approach this. Afterall, the bronze will be around for a few thousand years and I want to capture the spirit of Elfman and the dynamic power of his music within the sculpture. Please feel free to share your thoughts and suggestions. I will provide an web adress to my website just as soon as I get it up and running.
    thanks, Mr. E

i always thought of him with a guitar singing at the mic, but the xylophone thing isn’t bad either, well no matter what you do just remember to keep that crazy brillant look in his face….or sculpt him…i havea bunch of pictures i could send you to help you in researching…can i do that?

Thank you so much, xmasgrl83! That would be great if you could send me any pics. I would appreciate any form of help or feedback you would offer me. And I agree the expression on Danny’s face is extremely important. The expression says so much about a person. Once I figure out how I am going to sculpt Danny and actually start sculpting, may’be I could post pictures of the actual work in progress at my website and I could welcome critiques from anyone who would care to voice their opinions. thanks again. In my cheesy little opinion, I think Danny’s entire looks are all about the eyes! He’s got the whole seksi-psycho-genuis thing goin’ on in them. But since you can’t exactly make perfect eyes in a sculpting, I think his grin will be the most important thing. I hope you post some piccies of your sculpture when you’re done!!

The “devil” Danny is saucy! But I can see how you’d wanna go about something more sophisticated–if you will. I think the tricky thing about Danny is that he looks vastly different from one year to the next (I’ve noticed this, since I’m gonna try and start a series of drawings of him, so I’ve kinda been flipping through pictures and paying close attention to detail).

I’d just pick a moment in time that seems of some significance to you, and go from there. After all, you’re the one who’s gonna be looking at it for awhile! (Even if you sell it, it’ll still haunt you–so better make it good! My bad art taunts me so)….
