    Howdy all,

Well, I’ve been noticing the occassional questions about specific articles and/or sheet music for Danny Elfman, and figured now was a good a time as any to shamelessly plug what I’ve been tinkering with for the past 2 months.

Some of you may remember I was building a sheetmusic page attatched to a Boingo site. Well, it never went away, but it did get a huge design overhaul. It’s no longer really a Boingo site, but just a database. And it’s not meant to compete with Ryan’s or Tim Perrine’s or anyone else’s kick ass sites out there (I have no multimedia, and I have no reviews) — all I’m interested in is pooling together all the Elfman site resources into one place, so people can find material easier.

Anyway, the site is here, but be warned — it’s still under heavy construction:

Special thanks to Ryan, who let me link to some of his cool stuff. And thanks to Ian and TimP at The Elfman Zone for transcribing some rare stuff I haven’t seen anywhere else, and to the old defunct Oingo Boingo fan club for keeping such a great archive.

Note: the site hasn’t gone public yet, since I’m still waiting for permission to reprint a few things. So don’t bother using a search engine — even Homestead’s.

Feedback is always welcome! (Flame me if you have to — just so long as you say SOMETHING! ;-))

Peace Love and all that Jazz. . .

Your site is BEAUTIFUL! I love it! If you want me to try and transcribe something that Danny did, say so and I will give it a shot.

    This E-mail tag’s been fun, huh? ;-)

    >>>If you want me to try and transcribe something that Danny did, say so and I will give it a shot.<<< Will do! Right now, I’m kind of in a holding stage, since there’s still another 20 or so articles I have to upload. By Thanksgiving, though, I should have a wish list of stuff I’d like to see — I know there was some BMI stuff from this year that I’m missing… as well as little bric-a-brac from various DVDs. I’ll personally be transcribing Elfman’s Edward Scissorhands and Pee Wee commentaries for the Special Features page. Maybe if someone wants to try their hand at Family Man or Apes??? One way or another, I could use any sheetmusic links you may know of (since Hal-leonard, in particular has a very wacky search engine, and I’m sure I missed something). Whatever the case, I’ll get back to you guys in a couple days. Next update is Wed., I think. :-)

Family man I can understand but I think Apes is alittle too much. That score had tempered percussion I have never even heard of before, and was way out of the normal orchestral scene. Probably all you could get it rythem transcriptions and stuff. That is what really blew me away about that score. It was so OUT there. Half of the time I didn’t know what was going on (instrument wise) and I love that. In any case, I was thinking more along the lines of To Die For or maybe….oh, I just realized you thought I was talking about something else…I meant I would try to reproduce the SCORE the best I can.

The site is looking rather saucy! I can’t comment too much on what it contains, considering I may as well be trying to do Trigonometry (which ain’t gonna happen!) as opposed to reading music.

I’m usually not too fond of having to move the horizontal cursor in order to see everything–but I don’t really mind on your site, because everything fits together so well! Plus, you’ve got some nice pictures and such….

I’m so happy that your site exists. Unfortunately, I can’t bear to spend much time looking at it because the color scheme is giving me a headache. In my lil opinion, red against black doesn’t provide enough contrast for extended viewing/reading.
I can’t wait to see more of those transcriptions, though. Keep up the compiling!

First off — thanks to all of you who responded. It’s always nice to get feedback! :-)

Now — Knight. Whoops! I think you misunderstood — I’m NOT transcribing Elfman’s SCORE to Apes or Family Man or Edward… just his COMMENTARY (which came with the DVD). I’m not a musician, so it’d be funny if I tried to transcribe that stuff into sheet music! Thanks for the offer, though — I’m always open to any best guesses anyone wants to send in! :-)

Evil_Dead — thanks for the kind words! I’m not sure what you’re talking about, though… why is do you have to move the horizontal cursor? I’m pretty sure I designed the thing for an 800 X 600 res. Perhaps you’re on a 640 X 480? Whatever the case, sorry I can’t accomodate… I’d like to make it smaller, or at least adjustable, but I don’t have the HTML know-how to pull it off. :-(

Rachel — sorry about the color. I can’t really win… since I’ve been told by “certain individuals” that Ryan’s color scheme is too prozac friendly, and I didn’t want to emulate Tim P’s Elfman Zone orange (also the Cinemusic theme). Plus, Elfman and GREEN don’t really go together… and I considered purple, but unlike Vicky Vale, I HATE PURPLE. Oh well… one of life’s bitter pills, I guess. However, I have linked to every article I uploaded on the same page — so you can read them in a better color scheme by connecting to the original article’s site! In addition, the FEATURES I have (commentary transcriptions, unnofficial sheet music, lyrics, etc.) will have a color scheme more suited to their source movie… so it should be varied eventually. Hope that helps. :-)
