GuestI thought this was very exciting. A local theater where I live is playing 2 elfman scored films back-to-back!! Because of Popular Demand they are playing Spiderman and Men in Black Starting at 2:00. I am very pumped up for this because where i live, movies stay around for 2 or 3 weeks. And the best part(Besides the Elfman music) is that you can see both movies for $5!! So, anyone living near Marysville, Kansas (NE Kansas, ’bout 20 miles from the Neb. border) or having a rather boring Saturday on the 7th, I’ll see you there!!

– PS – Sorry if this doesn’t make too much sense, I am in a hurry to go to a HS football game.September 7, 2002 at 12:16 am #41910Anonymous
GuestWow! That’s only about 2.5 hours from where I live! I might make a trip down there tommorow

GuestUh…what’s the name of the theater?

GuestMan, this is depressing: I’m contemplating driving 2.5 hours to see an Elfman double feature…Elfman = nifty, the fact that I’m driving more than an hour to see it = depressing

GuestColumbia Pictures is double-billing MIB2 and SPIDER-MAN all over the place. It’s running here too.

GuestWhy do I have to live in such a craphole of a town?!?!? Man, this really blows! This town ain’t buying that gig…no four hours of Elfman oblivion for me without driving 2.5 hours

GuestEh..last minute ditch effort to boost sales on the DVDs…I’ll wait til October. The movie theaters here are way too ghetto for me to take 2 hours, let alone 4

GuestThe DVD push is a likely cause, good call Dobbs, and in any theater in my town will have them on second rate screens that are about as big as a projection screen TV.
I think I might just pop in Sleepy Hollow, and Nightmare Before Christmas into my DVD player tonight and have my own private double feature.

Guest“Double take of Elfman (old school)”: Sounds like a rollicking good time compared to what I’m doing: analyzing and critiquing yet MORE poetry manuscripts (for my job at a small poetry press). Rock on, baby…
My mistake: my “crap-hole of a town” IS showing the double feature. Got a call from an ex-beau this evening, and ironically enough, he wanted to know if I”d like to go to it next weekend…SO, I guess I am going…and in my own city, to boot! I’m going to see it at the Joyo, which is a fantastic 1920s-era former dinner club: has the red velveteen seats, ornate scrollwork (I can’t think of the technical term) on the walls…a very “vintage” feel. I adore that place…went to see NMBC for the first time there when I was 12…man, I still remember that…oops, rambling again. Gotta go. And yes, I’m a sucker for seeing films in theaters.

GuestTo Nat and Dobbster, the cynics…

They showed the two in our brand-spanking new theater on a nice huge screen…FAR better than owning them on DVD. So there.

GuestWe’ve got a new stadium seating theater that was supposed to be finished this summer, but just sits besides our Mall uncompleted. So there!

I know there is not much Elfman content on the Spider-man DVD, but has anyone heard what, if any, is on the Men In Black 2 DVD?
Nat who is still going “old-school” by watching Edward tonight after work.

GuestWe have a “new” theater in Lincoln…about a year old, which ain’t bad for this place…first new theater we’ve gotten in oh…around 25 years or so. And when the new theaters hit, they hit big…2 in one year. Imagine that!
I still prefer to watch Elfman-scored films in a theater…it really trips my trigger…although I prefer to be sitting by myself, so that when I start grinning and humming along with the music, nobody will look at me in suprise, or laugh

-E (who wishes she would’ve seen Edward in the theater)

GuestI have to quite everyone around me when an Elfman scored film is starting, because I guess they think ‘this movie hasn’t started yet – it’s just the opening credits’. This is also why I stay for the entire end credits in every movie. My friends now know I do this so they just wait there with me – I’ve got them trained!

Well, anywho… I try to go see every movie Danny does in a theater, and off hand, I can only think of a couple that I totally missed that I knew he was scoring, one being Extreme Measures. I usually find myself grinning from ear to ear every time I hear a main titles of his, one of my biggest enjoyments was seeing the Mars Attacks Main Titles and hearing this wonderful 60’s inspired sound. I always buy the soundtrack the day it is release, so most of the time there is not a real surprise at how the score will sound, as with the Mars Attacks score coming out so many months later, I almost wet myself with glee (I didn’t just type that did I?).
Nat who admits that he was a bed wetter when he was little but now has grown out of it (I only wet chairs)
