well, i waited for days and days, but the most interseting topic on this board was about the spiderman dvd. blah! and it’s been around for days and only had twelve or so replies. my goal is about twenty fun-filled (and possibly jelly-filled) postings! alright.. lemme think of an elfman thing to say..

next topic (uh.. sub-topic.) boingo discs. lovely aren’t they? no. not unless they are records. but, does anyone have a favorite boingo album? it’s kinda easy to choose a top score, and that’s outta over forty. but thirteen albums.. how to choose?

um.. films.. yesss. i saw freeway two. bleck. just an excuse for squeezit to have more lesbian flicks. but natasha leonne was in it. but it was missing something very important. also on films, i just bought shrunken heads off amazon.com for 6 bucks. (oh and shipping..) was that a deal or what? what i really want, though, is forbidden zone. i’ve rented it three times from the same place. can’t they take a hint?

well, some people may feel the need to respond to one of these bit of elfman-related nothings. others will feel obligated to say, “no, you CAN’T have a favorite boingo album, and I got both shrunken heads and foridden zone for a buck!” well, whatever you’ve got, i’d love to hear it!

lexi: push becomes shove, days become months, and i seem to have forgotten the warmth of the sun.

When I’m outside for a long period of time in the cold weather, I can’t feel my nose and snot starts dripping out of my nostrils. I don’t notice this until I ask someone or someone tells me. I’ve never seen the Farewell Tour or heard any commentary from Danny, so I don’t know.

My fav. Boingo album is by FAR the last one, “Boingo”. My fav. score is TNBC, or Edward Scissorhands (if I had to choose).

My favorite OB album… is the almighty Good For Your Soul. #1… the cover art is great… it’s like our dann-o doing his all-knowing flame breathing in his good ol’ wife beater, #2, not to mention the self-tiltled song itself has the greatest lyrics. “If you’ve ever been in love with someone you hardly knew, whereas everytime you closed your eyes, you fealt this person come alive.” I mean WOW. How much better can you put it? this can refer to anything you love… anything anyone… it’s just GOOD.
    good for your soul.
ultimately, there’s no better way to chose a best of the best boingo album in time… it just depends on your mood. they’re set to mood.

you want Forbidden Zone? damn people! http://www.richardelfman.com !!!!!
support the man. we worked hard on his site, and he needs the recognition. he knows people love him dearly… but he’s ready for his next film… and funding don’t come off trees! plus he’ll autograph it fer ya! It’s either that or bootleg it from Blockbuster… hey… I did it. but there’s nothing like the real thing. MUCH BETTER! We love the Elfo’s.

Now.. I have a good story. It’s one of those that someone posted not too long ago… in their local pet food store… simular.
I was in my local cafe… “paris on the platte” it’s called. I’m wearing my BOINGO shirt, the one that has the weird alien dude in the weird car on front (black shirt) and the Hawaii 84 on back. something like that. And this dude is sittin down, and he’s like, “nice shirt.” I’m like, “thanks… I like it too.” so, I sit down, have my chai tea and clove cigarette… do my thing… him and his girl get up to leave… he comes over… “so did you ever see them in concert?” me: “no… never did. so sad.” him: “me either. I do have this sticker on my car though.” me: “me too… I have the clown… from their last album.” him: “yeah! me too, the same one!” me: “wow! that’s so cool!” (she thinks this is a very rare thing.) him: “wow that’s great.” me: “you should check out richardelfman.com… I just finished it” (this lonely colorado girl with nothing to lose) him: “yeah.. cool I will. does danny have one?” me: “well, not exactly. there’s this great site you can go to to meet freaks like you and me, and gives the latest and greatest, but as for him, he’s sort of out of the interest in producing his own.” him: “yeah, I see. well, it was great talking to you.” his girlfriend drags him out of the room.

    a minute passes.

he drags her back in again…

him: not saying a word. lifts up his left pantleg… showing me Danny’s Tat… the tribal, looptie loo on the upper calf.

me: standing up, not saying a word: lifts up the back of my shirt, showing him my Dann-o tat… the skeleton lizards on the back of me.

we both nod. understand the cult experiece. and go on merrily with our night.

    NOW THAT was cool.

    love,

    and as for tarafina:

all the way in colorado and you manage to find a cult boy? that’s so awesome! maybe he’ll show up here. i really like the tatoo idea. if anyone else here has danny tats, we should do that convention thing and have a sort of “tat wave”.. ?.. nah, changed my mind.

    Thank you, tarafina!
Seriosly, you gave me goosebumps. Me being one of those Southern Californians who attended every single damn show close enough to home for me to get a ride, pulling the sleleton suit from the closet for the halloween ones, and being one of three people in high school who knew who they were, I’m tickled pink to see so much interest by so many people, and a little dismayed by the attention given to certain things. Yes he’s hot, yes he’s insanely talented, innovated, has the yummiest voice…I could go on and on but I’d just be preaching to choir, but he is still just a man.
I think the snot in mustache comment was basically him saying something to the affect of, “hey, I’ve been jumping around like a made man, singing and spitting, here you are right infront of me with a camera, I don’t have, like, snot hanging from my nose or anything, do I?

And, yes, there are drug reverences in some songs. They seem more like social commentary than endorements, though. Doesn’t really matter to me either way. If you enjoy the guys work, take what you want from it. Know what I mean.

As far as favorite albums…just can’t do it. I think when a band stops producing you just kinda look fondly on all that’s left (or at least I do.)

    For what it’s worth,

Tarafina – where the hell in Colorado are you that you meet other Boingo fans!?!?!?

I’m in Littleton/Highlands Ranch/aka The Bubble, and I’ve never heard anyone mention Boingo or Elfman. Except for me. The closest I got was at Six Flags when a friend and I were dying of heat so we went into their little theater thing and they had a tribute to movies where they sang Dead Man’s Party (yeah, I don’t get it either).

    It’s a lonely world sometimes.

    Infynitie,

you live here too?? I’m in Denver. Met the dude at Paris on the Platte (15th and Platte in Lodo). Didn’t even get his name. Are you the one that has my BOINGO plates? I really wanted them but someone has them… is it you? Cause if it IS… we need to get together… I have OINGO (instead). Now only if I didn’t just crash my car, and had someplace to put them…but I DO own them finally!!!

anyhoo… it is a lonelyworld… and when something like this happens, it fills me with so much energy, it’s hard to describe to any normal (other) person, but I’m sure anyone HERE gets it.

I was twitterpated with those goosebumps Beth speaks of, for days.

Maybe there’s more interesting people in Colorado, than I thought?

    whoo hoo!!

maybe I’ll see you sometime, maybe I already have…. whoooo spookie. and here I thought I was the only person in this part of the country on this website.

    it is a beautiful day.

    HEY?

what’s the deal with the drug talk? too much for this board? we’re not spreading rumors or propaganda, so eh? what’s the deal? offensive?

it’s weird, it’s like things just VANISHED.

like things vanished? What do you mean?

Actually, I remember reading in an interview: “It’s great living a drug free life. . .” or something like that.

well, some people missed an in-depth drug converse which brought out some strong pleges from the mfadpeoples, but they have disappeared. or been ‘edited’ or ‘eliminated.’ i can think of more than a few other topics that contained worse stuff. and this was even elfman related! erg censorship!

but that interview clip brings hope. though.. how old was it?

lexi: i would shuttup if i thought i had to.

Tarafina and Infynitie – I live in the midwest also…”Paris on the Platte?” I think I’ve heard of it; I travel to Colorado often, so I’ll have to stop by and take a looksee if that Boingo guy is there.

Boingo tats, eh? I have a few tats myself, but maybe I’ll have to add a Boingo design to my Cyrillic body engravings :-) I think the artist I went to last time could do a hip lookin’ skeleton-with-cowboy-hat design…god, they’re addicting! Getting a tattoo is a rush of the best kind, my friends…legal, and if you go to the right place, perfectly safe.

Favorite Boingo album? The rarities compilation I made, complete with “Saint James Infirmary!” Favorite Boingo song? We Close Our Eyes, the Farewell version. Yummy voice, you say? Yeah, that too… :-)

I live in crappy Ohio, and even here there is some hope–for whenever I wear my lovely Jack Skellington hoodie, (it’s all black, and just has Jack’s big head on it), it gets one remark or another–so, it’s like people almost know who Danny is, but not quite!

Plus, I’ve got other Jack shirts, Batman, BeetleJuice, and Spider-man….and usually at least someone’ll know something: that the movie was directed by Tim, or has just been released, or they remember seeing it, or hearing it, etc….

But, on occasion, ever so often (be giddy, will ya–I’m building up suspense!) someone will actually know who Danny is, and bluntly throw out his name! Oh yes–it’s true! So, maybe the world isn’t entirely shot to hell–yet. Anyways, it gives you a bit of hope, at least.

(And I’m always super-super happy when I can wear my Evil Dead shirt at all, which doesn’t happen often, considering it has the possessed zombie-type Cheryl real big on the front, with the words “one by one we will take you” all bloody on the back).

But back to semi-topic: I’d have to say my favorite Boingo album is the Farewell: Live from the Universal Ampitheatre one. Namely, because I’m quite fond of the song “Water” and I love how “Insanity” sounds live. Also, it has a nice cross-section of the old stuff and the new.

wee! i have the black hoodie! is it the one with the silver studs in the shape of jack’s head? people tend to think iit’s ‘cute’ and i knew that would happen. not the best reaction but that’s alright. you know where i got it? my trek to disneyland two weeks ago! Le Bat En Rouge. ee! so.. much stoof.. and, of course, the ride brought some of the best people! though nobody commented on my shirt, (frame pic of jack reading ‘bone daddy’ hahahaha) mostly because there were about twenty other people wearing it, but it was a generally happy enviornment in new orleans square. while trying to ignore the idea that the red boy might be here, (in order to avoid a let down or bring a very good surprise at one point,) i bumped into a boy (uh.. man.) wearing an Oingo Boingo Farewell tee. i took my usual stance of shock and said, “did you get that at the concert?” he told me he was sorry he hadn’t. he had gotten off ebay like any tardy fan. i was truly expecting more boingo shirts, but mostly i saw really excited adults and children all in black. good thing it wasn’t hot that day. but who needs connecting to people when you’ve got the haunted holiday, right? also, all those folks in black and i were here for the same reason ad i knew that.

lexi: and i still can’t decide on a fav album.

Ooh! I love “Water.” Man, nothing cool every comes to my crappy arse town! I’ve got to check out the Disney store and see if there’s any NMBC stuff…much as I despise Mickey Mouse and his “cutesy” compatriots…

I don’t think it’s the same hoodie–mine has the big Jack head, but it’s just his normal, white head–no shiny bonus! I do have the same Jack “Bone Daddy” shirt, though–and one with Jack, Sally, and Zero. And another with the different characters in various box-type frames, and one more with Jack dressed up like Santa.

My favorite’s a snazzy long-sleeved t-shirt, with three Jack heads down the left arm, and him standing up on the front. I end up getting most of my stuff at Hot Topic and Suncoast, because, God help, the mall frightens me–but Disney frightens me more!

I’m thinking of making my own Boingo shirts–just because you don’t seem to see them lying around and what-not. I figure I’ve got some extra ink and free time, so why not (and lord knows I should use part of my senseless degree for something)! Should be safe if I don’t sell ’em, or anything….

well, i’ve only got the bone daddy, hoodie, and a lock shock and barrel one i only got cuz it’s gray and built for girls.

why not make you own shirts? i made a picture of a skull and cross missiles that reads “search and destroy” (little did i know the real shirt says “seek and destroy”) on a black tanktop. i have various wife beater to decorate. if someone can tell me what vatos’ shirt says at US fest ’83 (it says sumtin’ dammit!) let me know, pleasey please. if i don’t find out, i’ll just write a shirt that says “johnny vatos.”

here’s an elfman thing for those who don’t care about tees: has anyone seen the E! presentation of the making of NMBC?

lexi: where’s my marks a lot?

I’ve considered making my own Boingo shirt…what I really want is the cover of the “Dead Man’s Party” CD/record printed onto one of those iron-on computer printer thingees…I hope that makes sense! Does anybody know WHERE I could get a large, printable pic of the DMP album? The CD cover ain’t scanning…

-E (who just went to an Alpaca and Llama Exhibition with her 7-year-old niece. Note: do not take children under the age of 10 near spitting animals with gallons of hairspray in their coats…my niece got spit on 3 times, and nearly kicked once…)

My printer’s also a copier, so technically, it would be possible for me to run ya off an iron-on transfer from the Dead Man’s Party cover–but, the image would be in reverse (along with the words, obviously!), and it would only end up being the size of the c.d. cover.

I could try and draw you a larger version–I’m a pretty good artist (not great, but good)–but I’ll warn you, I suck at colors (I usually do black-and-white, and all the tints and shades inbetween).

But, I’m willing to try, because God help, I just don’t have a life! That, and I get kicks outta drawing stuff. If you want me to go ahead and try, I’ll just need to know how big you want it, and where to send it to. (And also, if you want the original side, or the reverse)!
