Hey! Anyone know how I can find information on seeing a live orchestra performance on Danny Elfman’s music? My husband is a HUGE fan and believes that orchestras sometimes play the music, but I can’t find any information anywhere! I could really use some help!!
I don’t think they do. Concert bands are known to perform film music (like Williams), but I don’t know how common an orchestra playing any film music is. Good luck, at let me know if you find one.

I once heard an orchestra play the theme to Batman. I’ve also seen listings in the concert section of Film Score Monthly Magazine for selections of Elfman – mostly Batman and Edward though. Try to find a copy or go to http://www.filmscoremonthly.com and find out. It’s a great magazine, and very favorable to Danny.
Nat – who didn’t want to step on Knight’s toes, but film score concerts are more common than you think. I almost went to the Goldsmith one in Atlanta a year ago, until he got sick and they had to replace him with another conductor (as well as change the program).
Really Nat? That is awesome! I just never heard about it here. Now I gotta go find out if any are playing. Thanks man!

The score is rented from whoever owns it. You can do that with film music too. I remember when de Miej’s Lord of the Rings Symphony for band came out, we actually had to rent it, it wasn’t available to own.

I’ve never heard an orchestra play some danny stuff, but i do play some danny pieces on piano (some times with a choir, or strings).For those who live near to me (Geneva, Switzerland), my next concert is tuesday december 3rd. I’ll play improvisations on danny’s scores to “Nightmare before Christmas”, “Edward Scissorhands”, and “Red Dragon”.
