ParticipantThe TV was on “The Angry Beavers” and I’m minding my own business when Daggit dons his Muscular Beaver costume and I hear something that sounds strangely familiar. “Sounds like the Batman theme…” I think, and it’s confirmed when the next scene is a definite rip off of the final scene from Batman…..complete with ripping off Elfman’s music! The final notes to that scene were even the same as the Batman Finale….except for the chimes…..but they did include the chimes….in fact…an overkill of chimes.
I found it pretty funny, especially since Batman is m favorite both movie and film score.April 14, 2006 at 5:45 pm #56892Spider-Fan
ParticipantI used to love that show. Interesting that they had a direct rip instead of a very vague rip like in “Mallrats.”

ParticipantNot to take away from Elfman nor the Batman score but, the finale you refer to, itself seems very much written from the same vein of the first movement of Strauss’s “Thus Spoke Zarathustra.” This may have already been mentioned and probably has but, I am uncertain. Just start listening to the 1:10 mark of the Batman finale and approximately the 1:19 (this differs version to version) mark of the Strauss piece. Extremely similar and even in the same key (C major). I’m not sure of Elfman’s process in writing the finale but, the similarities in motivic function are undeniable. Rip? hmmm….but, anyways, still a damn effective ending to one of the greatest scores to ever be written.
