GuestSo, darkhorizons.com is reporting that Elfman’s going to score the new Looney Tunes flick.
I don’t expect the movie to be any good, if “Space Jam” is any indication of how the characters are being handled these days, but Elfman sounds like a good choice for the music.
It’ll be nice to hear him using his Carl Stalling chops again, I think. It’s been too long since “Amazing Stories.”
Any thoughts?
Cheers,

GuestI heard that the new “Looney Tunes” movie was being directed by Joe Dante and he has used almost exclusively Jerry Goldsmith in the past. If it is true that Elfman is scoring it then I guess Goldsmith’s health is worse than I thought. Maybe Ryan can shed some light on this. That is unless this is just another one of those Internet rumors. I can say that the team of Dante and Elfman would be a good match on any future projects, although Goldsmith’s work for him has always been great and fun to listen to. THE EXPLORERS is one of my favorite Goldsmith scores and Dante movie.

GuestIt’s official. Variety is reporting this too, saying that it was the idea of his niece-in-law.

GuestDan Goldwasser of Soundtrack.net, a site that sits on the same server as this one, has emailed director Joe Dante about this. Joe, of course is directing the LOONEY TUNES film. Joe had this to say:
“It’s news to me!!!!”
It’d be great if Danny is scoring this film, but it’s a little odd that the director doesn’t know about it!

GuestAll of a sudden, I’m really glad I added the disclaimer “supposedly” in the subject line.
Jeez, we’re gullible, aren’t we?
Peace,

GuestWell, I think it’s easy to see how the story would have gotten out of control. When Jenna Elfman joined the cast, all the headlines in the trade papers said something like, “Elfman Joins Looney Tunes Movie.” I’m sure there were a lot of people who looked at it once and assumed that the story was announcing that Danny Elfman was now scoring the flick.
In reality, I doubt he’ll be involved. He’s said numerous times in the past that he’d love to work for Joe Dante (wouldn’t we all?), but somehow I just can’t see it happening. It doesn’t seem like Danny’s kind of movie, and as Jerry Goldsmith’s still around, I don’t think Dante is shopping for a new composer anyway.

GuestThough my love for Elfman knows no boundries, I’d rather see Jerry Goldsmith or Elmer Bernstein score this movie.

GuestNow, if there was a Dexter’s Lab movie, I’d be interested–and hope that Danny would score it. Because that would be saucy. But I’m not too big on Looney Tunes–I know too many personally!
