There’s a clip for the Fantastic Four movie on amazon.com featuring John Ottman’s music, and I gotta say it sounds a lot like many of Danny’s approaches to action scores. This even reminded me of Spider-Man to some extent.
Sounds like a good effort nonetheless, and the movie looksdecent but not as good as it might have been with another director. Link below.

gotta admit… for how much I hate the fact that Tim Story is directing this, that was a pretty good action sequence. Sans cheesy ending, of course.

Sean Astin was originally one of the top contenders to direct the film, and I was able to have a chat with him a few months back. I think he would have done a great job on the film. He’s got an Oscar nomination for best short film under his belt. Tim Story’s got Barbershop. Back in March, Sean told me he hadn’t even seen the trailer but he told me that Marvel’s marketing campaign was massive, extending to even public schools. I think he would have been a better choice than Tim “Taxi” Story.

TAXI! the guy who directed TAXI is directing this! When i first heard about that months ago my stomach dropped! Im not a huge Fantastic 4 fan but i feel for those who are! Only hope is that he is a HUGE Fantastic 4 fan himself then it might come out good! And your right about the music!

John Ottman’s website posted 3 generous clips from the soundtrack. They sound more towards his style, though there are hints of Elfman and some Young there. It’s a shame it’ll be watered down by punk rock the whole movie.

    MEHH!

Why didn’t they keep the GREAT theme from the old cartoon show.

And what is it with adding chorus to EVERYTHING lately?

While the chorus may be slightly overdone, I appreciate a composer’s choice to use chorus in a score, especially one of this type. Ottman used the chorus wonderfully in X2, so I don’t doubt his ability in using it. Danny Elfman’s still my favorite when it comes to chorus, I mean listen to “Spider-Man 2,” “Sleepy Hollow,” and “Edward Scissorhands.” He is number one in chorus use. But Ottman’s still pretty good as well.
