Guestsince ’88, (when I was a mere year [rhyme] old,) I’ve probably seen beetlejuice at least 30 times. mostly these last couple of years. I don’t even partcularly love that movie, (even though I own the soundtrack because it’s great,) yet i still watch it whenever i see it’s on one of the movie channels. it’s like it pulls me in. the film never seems to surprise me.. until a few minutes ago. I just wanted to watch the main titles to watch some particular names pop up, but right at the very begininng. THE very begining of the main titles suite, I hear something I’d never heard before. Imagine! On the sountrack you get this charming chorus saying, “daylight come man, me wan’ go hoooome.” but in the film, apparently you hear, “day. deesa da-aa-o..” and you know who it sounds like? not harry belafonte, (that’s his name, right?) or any of his chorus members (like on the sountrack release,) you know who it sounds like? (well, to me, and it’s probably just my imagination.) it sounds like none other than 1986-88 boi-ngo through boingo alive’s dead man’s party- yes! that’s the guy. (insert invader zim quote: “and he’s back for mooooooooooooooooooore! get him!”)
now could someone check this out for me, so I can either get my head poked by a crazy house specialist or breathe a sigh of relief?
lexi: “I can’t see any posters i like.”
brother: “hey, here’s a no doubt one. you want that?”
lexi: “nah. I don’t like them anymore.”
brother: “well, how bout this oingo boingo poster?”
lexi: “where??”
brother: “ha!”
— my brother and I at a record store. I see him once a month yet he still knows how to embarass me.September 3, 2002 at 4:32 am #41761Anonymous
GuestIt sure sounds like him Lexi.
I have the DVD with the isolated score, and I would bet money that it was our man.
The only difference between the start of the CD is that part is not sung but played on Tubular Bells (Chimes) or a Glockenspiel (maybe synthesized, but I don’t think so – might just be a microphone trick).
Good catch girl
Nat who finds Lexi vexing (rhyme)

GuestI believe it is the Elf
When he was at his peak of nice-lookingness, nevermind the fact that I was 7 when that movie came out… *grins* Yay!!!
-Erika (who, alas, couldn’t take “the whole day off” because she remembered a buttload of work that she had to do, and has spent the last 15 hours doing it! *Primitive unhappy growl* Stupid life! Maybe my next life as a headless chicken will be better…)

Guestwow. i’m glad it was probably him, because I was expecting the peak of my insanity to be more fun than just hearing a little voice sing, “day-o..”
that should definatley have been on the soundtrack.. it’s like the ‘nothing to fear’ and ‘just another day’ that they exchanged for ‘whole day off’ and some less pubescent elf voices on other songs on the farewell album. I feel jipped.
ugh! erika! 1986-88 is your dishy elf phase?? euwwwww! red afroes aren’t my cup o’ tea, sorry.
lexi: not yet fully insane yet somehow meant for public display. in third grade school play I played the statue and painting numer 2. I imitated ‘scream’ “and it was good.” – (a quote of biblical proportions!)

GuestI prefer 80-85 and 91-present.notice the short hair preference, plus the coaced-out farewell preference. also, notice the gap is right where you place your mark of favorite. ::a sudden thought of red chest appearing with only suspender to hide it:: once again: euwwwwwwww
lexi: wait.. weren’t we talking about music?

GuestI’ve always heard that little tid-bit at the very beginning; I never listened to it close enough to catch that it was actually Danny singing it, though.
