GuestWOW! I just found this neat site! I am, have, and always will be, an MAJOR Danny Elfman fan! I’ve only had the chance to see Oingo Boingo live twice, but they were the best concerts I’ve ever been to! In fact, I still have a tank top that was given to me by Danny himself! I also have his autograph from the same show. I remember when I got his sweaty tank top at a concert in Bakersfield, CA on the Dead Man’s Tour, I wouldn’t put that damned thing down for 2 solid weeks! Talk about a HORRIBLE smell! I was just in awe that he gave it to me. In fact, he gave it to me on an encore of “Little Girls”, funny now that I look back at it. Anyway, at the other show that I went to, he mooned the crowed! He is a nut! I love it! That show was in Park City, UT as Boingo. So, what are some of your stories about Danny? Would definately be interested!

GuestWow! Truthfully, I”m not sure I’d want to have anything that belonged to him…although you do have a pretty cool series of Boingo stories. I’d just like a chance encounter with him to tell him how much his music has affected my life – for the better, that is. Well, that, and maybe a nice pat on the head from the Elfman himself

GuestJocelin, I covet your tank top!
welcome,
I’ve been a huge Boingo fan since age 14. I took in about 15 or so shows and although I don’t own an article of his clothing, I have met Danny twice. Once in the parking lot of NBC studios when Boingo was on Jay Leno and again at a Farewell signing in Hollywood, where the whole band signed my copy of the video.
I went into more detail here (http://elfman.filmmusic.com/forum/read.php?f=7&i=2595&t=2595) toward the very end of the thread.
I think your tank top story is great.November 23, 2002 at 12:19 am #43063Anonymous
GuestActually, the tank top was a great momento. I still have it in fact. At that same show right before the show, I was out front chatting with Leon and didn’t even know it until I saw him on stage. It was actually pretty neat. It’s one of those life experiences that I will never forget! I just wonder if Danny still has the stuffed purple cow I threw up on the stage at that same concert. In fact, that’s how I got his autograph. I threw the cow up on stage with a note attached to it asking for his autograph. All my friends laughed at me and told me it wouldn’t work. Well, he took the cow backstage and when they came out for the 1st encore he brought it back out and gave it back to me with his autograph attached. Then on the 2nd encore, that’s when he gave me his tank top. In the 3rd encore, I got to hold his hand! That was the most wonderful night EVER! And you know what’s the craziest part of the whole experience???? I didn’t even have tickets all that close to the stage, in fact I was supposed to be like in row 16, however, a friend of mine came up and asked me if I wanted to trade his tickets, 2nd row center stage, for mine. Of course, I said, HELL YES! And that’s the story!

GuestWait a minute. . . you wonder if Elfman still has your purple cow, yet he gave it back to you with his autograph attatched? hmmmm.

GuestPurple cows are funny that way….

GuestYes, I pulled off the piece of paper with his autograph and then threw it back to him.

GuestYou got to hold his hand? *Melts in a puddle on the floor at the thought of seeing Danny in his early Boingo glory* In a wife-beater nonetheless! I must know, was he wearing suspenders?
-E (who can’t get enough of the suspenders…courtesy of the “Dead Man’s Party” video. Minus Rodney Dangerfield, it would be saucy indeed! Danny dancing with blue guitar, in a wife beater and suspenders…oh yes, that’s saucy indeed!)

GuestYes, thin black ones. My friend that traded places with me and gave me their great tickets took pictures from the show. They are really poor, but I will see if I can find them and scan them. If I find them, I could email them to you.

GuestWoo! Suspenders! Yes, if you find them, I’d really appreciate you emailing them to me

-E (Who likes to imagine finding a guy who has red hair and wears suspenders. Wait, I guess clowns have red hair and wear suspenders, don’t they? Hm…I’m thinking more along the lines of “civilian”…but the questions *does* bring about interesting parallels between Danny and clowns *grins*)

GuestOHMIGOD! How incredibly unfair and lucky of you! I’m only 15 years old now (Googoo gaagaa…) so Oingo Boingo unfortunately came to an end before I ever got into them or any of Danny’s other work. But dear God, if I had gotten to so much as look at him in his Boingo days I think he’d need a crane to pull me off of him! *Drool* Lucky, lucky, lucky girl…

GuestBy the way, regarding the suspenders comment, Danny also wears them in the “Stay” video if I’m not mistaken. But I’d give an arm to have his tank top! I’d carry the thing everywhere, even if it was sweaty and had a godawful stench. He looks soooooo good in the Little Girls video with his little tanky-top. Oi…

GuestI consider myself quite lucky for that chance! I still have the tank top. It’s in my underwear drawer in fact. It has a rust spot where I left a Boingo pin on it and Danny’s sweat cause corrosion which ended up putting a rust stain on the shirt. But I do still have it. It, of course, no longer smells funny. Thank goodness! But it’s something that I have and always will treasure dearly. But I will always wonder what ever happened to that damned purple cow!
