GuestThis guy has it for sale on his website. I can’t vouch for his reliability, but if you’re looking for this score, new and sealed for $11.99 is pretty good.

GuestCan’t you buy a new one in a store for a few dollars more? I saw a used one in a store in pretty good condition for $5.99 a few weeks ago.

GuestSOMMERSBY is out-of-print, so there is no guarantee you’ll ever see a new copy in a music store.

Guesti didn’t know it was out of print !!!
i saw it yesterday in a store. I’m going to buy it tomorrow at the opening ! (and it was very cheap !)July 18, 2002 at 4:52 am #40891Anonymous
GuestWhy, exactly, does Danny’s stuff go “out of print” to begin with? I mean, hasn’t anyone in the music industry figured out that there are deprived/obsessed fans out in the world, going without some of the greatest music ever wrote?
I mean, I’ve got some of Danny’s harder-to-find soundtracks (keep in mind that that’s just about every score when you’re stuck in Ohio), but I’ve had ’em forever, which means they’re on tapes. And, it would be super snazzy to get the stuff that’s on tapes on c.d.s.
(I’m not a huge fan of ripping stuff off of the net, and like the fancy packaging, anyways). So, if the record companies would actually pay attention, I’m thinking they could make quite a bit of money–I know I’d blow a ton of money I don’t have in the first place!

GuestYeah I agree with Evil Dead. Right now I’m like crazy seaching every day at e-bay for the Frighteners score.
Any of you know of an online store where I can find it(no luck at amazon either)?Thank you

GuestSorry to be blunt, but they are few like us out there. Just be thankful that your favorite composer is represented in the commercial world. If you are a Bruce Broughton fan (like I am) then you had to get his Young Sherlock Holmes CD early or you would be out of luck (at least at paying for it at a reasonable price – $40 is what I paid for the 2CD promo release). CDs go out of print, that is a fact of life. But remember that there are some scores that have never even been released before, so I think that the pecking order for out of print CDs is actually pretty low on the list.
At least that is what I think about it.
It sucks I know, I live in Mississippi and before I used the Internet on a daily bases I didn’t know it was possible to still get Article 99 or Wisdom. We have it pretty good now, not perfect, but damn good.
I didn’t want to offend anyone, and if I did I’m sorry.

GuestNat is right — the cost of Los Angeles recorded film music is extremely high. THE FRIGHTENERS, DICK TRACY, and SOMMERSBY were recorded in Los Angeles, so the fact that they are out-of-print means they will probably stay that way for decades at least.
As for YOUNG SHERLOCK HOLMES, I was “lucky” enough to buy a copy from Intrada. It’s bloody awesome! Nat, if you haven’t already, head to Percepto.com and order their THE BOY WHO COULD FLY. Nice!!

GuestWay ahead of you Ryan, I got it when it came out. Isn’t there only 500 copies of THE BOY WHO COULD FLY? I’m waiting for MONSTER SQUAD to get a CD release now so then most of my Bruce Broughton wishes will have come true.
Thanks for getting my back Ryan,
Nat
P.S.
Hey Ryan, did you know every time we type in S-U-C-K-S it changes it to rocks? Did you do that? If so, that is pretty cool. I know you have a swearing lock.

GuestWell, as long as we’re talking composers other than Elfman, Evan Evans’ stuff is quite easy to find. The guy uses mp3.com for almost all of his stuff, and you can download it to burn onto a CD, LEGALLY might I add, for a very nominal fee ($4 at the highest, for an entire album). I’ve mentioned this guy more than once, but a good intro to his stuff would be the “Killers” score. I don’t know if his score to “Killers 2” is on mp3.com yet, but I’ll check, if only for myself…
But yes, Elfman’s OOP stuff is so very hard to find, and so expensive when it is located! But, hey, that’s the price of being in love with obscure music…

GuestNat – yep, I have changed “sucks” to “rocks”. I did that back when everyone was matching up the words “Zimmer” and “sucks” in a sentence. I think Hans is pretty cool, a gentleman and very self-deprecating. In the immortal words of Max Shreck: I will not stand for mudslinging in my office!
As for Broughton, don’t count out some great stuff of his. I know there are plans, which I can’t unfortunately share — but fans of his have plenty to be excited about!

Thanks for the tease.

GuestI just would like to let everyone on here to know that their are some really good used CD online stores that have rare stuff cheap from time to time.
SecondSpin.com – I’ve not only bought from this company, but also sold to them and they are vary reliable.
Djangos.com – the best place I’ve found to find rare stuff at a good price. Recently I’ve got the hard to find CDs RADIO FLYER by Hans Zimmer (I like a lot of his early stuff so your not alone here Ryan) for $6.99, TWISTER by Mark Mancina and INCOGNITO by John Ottman for $8.99 each. But my best recent find was of Jerry Goldsmith’s Bad Girls for $15.99!
Just thought I would pass that along. Also Django has a remind me list of scores you are looking for that they will e-mail you when they receive a used copy. You just have to be the first to order it when it does come in — make sure you check your mail often.
Just trying to help (although I would have loved to keep both of these sites to myself)

GuestThere may not be that many of us, but we’re dangerous….and they should give us the music, damn it!
Granted I am grateful for what is out there, but I’m also a greedy fruitcake who would just like to own some of the snazziest music ever composed.
