GuestI’m sure most of you already wondered once : “What if I was stuck on a desert island for months ? If I could take a few CDs, which would these be ?”
As I said in a previous post, I’m in Shenzhen, China right now. Great place to find bootleg DVDs for 1$ each, but in terms of filmmusic, that’s not really it.
Before coming I didn’t want to bring any of my discs, but after a few days here, I really came to miss them.
Luckily I found in Hong Kong “Spider-man” and “Men In Black II” for very affordable prices, three weeks ago. This is the only music I’m listening to in Shenzhen, and believe me, I’m truly enjoying it. I thought that after playing it so much I couldn’t stand them after a week, but to my surprise it’s still a wonderful listening experience.
I consider it as a real proof of the quality of these two scores : they remain enjoyable after three weeks of intense playing, which is amazing.

My first Elfman choices would be “Black Beauty”, “Sleepy Hollow”, and “Family Man”…
Then, John Williams’ “Hook”, Mark Mancina’s “Return to Paradise”, and Daniel Licht’s “Bad Moon”…
There you go…. (But these choices would probably be different if you ask the same question in two months…)
What about you… ?????

GuestHm…I’d have to take “Sleepy Hollow,” “Beetlejuice” “Spider-man” and “Black Beauty.” Surprisingly, I’d have no trouble leaving “Batman” or “Batman Returns” off the list; can’t really explain why…

GuestI’d take Titanic (WOO HOO!!), The Perfect Storm and Music For A Darkened Theatre, Vol. 1. Oh yeah, and Edward Scissorhands too!

GuestAre you being sarcastic or would you really take titanic?
i would take MFADT vol.2, Spider-Man, sleepy hollow, batman returns, and i would take a cassette with some tracks of both MIB’s. to add a little of non-elfman i would take my “Resident Evil Orchestra Album”… with all those, i can die a happy man!

GuestDepends on how many c.d.s you can take. For starters, I’d say BeetleJuice and Edward Scissorhands, along with Oingo Boingo’s Farewell: Live from the Universal Ampitheatre.
And, Music for a Darkened Theatre Volumes 1 and 2 would be pretty snazzy for a nice cross-section of Danny’s career.
Other than that, I’d probably grab a couple of c.d.s non-composer-ish, just for a variation.

GuestWouldn’t you be forgeting a CD player to play them on?
Just a little fun ribbing.
Nat from the people who don’t know when they would be stranded on a deserted Island because It would be an accedent and not planned.
But seriously I’d have to take MFADT#1 and Michael Nyman’s MGV those two CDs are the ones I’ve listened to the most over the last 10 years.

GuestDon’t forget to take a lot of batteries. I don’t think they have power outlets on deserted islands.
