I’ve had the score to this for some time but never seen the film. Now I’m matching the picture to the music and enjoying the experience immensely
Opinions on score/film?
Nightbreed is possibly my favorite Elfman score. But the movie is one of the worst I have ever seen. Terrible, terrible film. I like Clive Barker’s books, but all of his movies so far have been a disappointment.
Was Elfman watching the same movie when he scored it?
I really like this score too. It stands on its own very well, and has been used in other movie trailers too. The childrens voices (can also be heard on MFADTvol1) always reminded me strangely of the “Meow Mix” jingle. Try singing along to it. “I want Tuna. I want liver. Meow mix, Meow mix please deliver.” (meat for the beast)
It’s a very hyper and intense piece over all. It classic Elfman and similar to “Carnival from Hell” (Darkman) in terms of ‘action’ meets violence with a hit sarcassim.
