GuestContain yourselves! …Elfman won an award for best TV theme (The Simpsons) @ the National Music Awards. The good thing about these awards is that they are voted by the public. Elfman was up against his old pal, Oakenfold, for Big Brother, Friends, Pop Idol and something else, but I’ve forgotten. In true showbiz style, Elfman never turned up!

GuestBest TV theme for THE SIMPSONS? Correct me if I’m wrong, but didn’t he write it, like, 13 years ago?

GuestHey, I’m keepin’ up with the programme! This was for all-time favourite TV theme, not just for this year.

GuestI can understand the guy not showing up to collect an award for something 13 years old that he’s afraid will be mentioned on his tombstone.

GuestMichael, you say this is for “all-time [favorite] TV theme”? And the other nominees were “Big Brother, Friends, Pop Idol and something else”???
That is why Elfman didn’t show up! Because the rest of the nominees were a (and I don’t want to be mean) JOKE!!! The theme for Family Dog would win if put up against those.

GuestYeah, I know, how embarassing. Comparing Elfman to those pieces of crap is an utter disgrace to mankind. 😡 At least he won!

GuestExcuse me, but I actually think all of those themes deserved to win. You may not, but ppl have different opinions and tastes. The right man won though!

GuestSo in your top 5 list of “all-time [favorite] TV theme
” you would put “Big Brother, Friends, Pop Idol and something else”? I find that hard to believe, weather or not you do like them. Where is Peter Gunn, Mission Impossible, Twilight Zone, Dragnet, or even Perry Mason or The Waltons (heck, even the theme to Knight Rider would have been a welcome site to the list)?Surely it was for best TV theme of a currently running show, then it would at least be a credible cross section in which to give merit.
Not knocking any of the “deserving” nominees, but this sounds a little odd that’s all.
