GuestSorry, but I need one more thing for my paper.
Does anyone know if Danny Elfman has ever mentioned that the Batman theme might have been somewhat influenced by Holst’s “Mars”?

GuestI thought it was more influenced by “Journey to the Center of the Earth” by Bernard Herrmann?

GuestWell, Mars has a pretty common sound in film music today. I wouldn’t have been suprised to find that he used it as some sort of model for the theme. not that anything’s wrong with that. they’re just pretty similar in the motion of the themes and the whole march thing. kinda cool, actually.

Guesthans zimmer pretty much ripps off everyscore he does, which I don’t understand since I like him and have many of his CDs, so I don’t know what is less excusable, horner who ripps himself off, or outright plaigarism.

GuestI don’t think anyone would just rip someone off on purpose. Alot of people could say the same thing about Danny’s music, or anyone’s music, because no matter what you do, SOMETHING is going to sound just a little bit like something else. And if you are talking about the battle sounding like Mars, you are crazy, they are TOTALLY different.
Knight (Who is now comparing Holst’s Mars and Zimmer’s The Battle)

GuestZimmer said himself, on the DVD, that he copied That Music.
