ParticipantAndrew Lyod Webber’s Phantom of the Opera is something I’ve listened to constantly for years. I noticed a long time ago that the part where Raul shows up to save Christine and Phantom says “monsieur, I bid you welcome. Did you think that I would harm her?” has a VERY VERY similar chord progression as in Nightmare. (“In our town we call home…”)
Anyone familiar with this tell me if you’ve heard it. I don’t think it was intentional, (because of course Danny Elfman can do almost no wrong in my eyes. ;p) but it amuses me that the “goth” connotation that people tend to stick on him could be attributed to such an influance. ^.^

GuestThanks, I’ll be singing “Down Once More…Track Down This Murderer” for hours. I don’t think it sounds all that similar. Phantom kicks ass (movie’s not so great), but I’m still a bigger fan of Nightmare.
