GuestSome News from the compiling of the RED DRAGON soundtrack. It may be a little hard for you guys to trust me, though, since all these lies have been spread around in the past about the score…
– The Score has been recorded and is now on Disk as a rough cut of the Soundtrack. Mixing has been completed and the Manufacturing of the DISKS will begin in the first week of September.
– The CD Inlets have been designed and the track listing has been completed (although it’s not available on the internet | other than the cover slip).
– There is a little rumor that Decca’s inserted dialogue by Anthony Hopkins into some tracks (as well as Ralph Feinnes). This may only be a rumor though.
– Talk is, from those who witnessed the sessions [a friend of mine–infact], that the score is very heavy in Vibrato Strings and Woodwinds. There are supposed to be three Major themes (i.e. like in Batman Returns).
– The Release Date is Still the 25th September.

GuestOh YEAH! I forgot.
– The Soundtrack is an ENHANCED CD which contains both a Screen-Saver and Interviews with Brett Ratner and Danny Elfman (Quicktime Format).

GuestHey, cool, If this information is correct! . . . Except for this little snippit:
“- There is a little rumor that Decca’s inserted dialogue by Anthony Hopkins into some tracks (as well as Ralph Feinnes). This may only be a rumor though.” YUCK! Hopefully it’s just a rumor.

GuestWhere would we have to write to get DECCA to see the light, and not put dialogue on the CD?

Guesthttp://www.universalclassics.com is the official DECCA site. Chances are high there’s an address there and you can check to see if this is correct.

GuestThanks Mikey.
So who’s with me on this crusade?

GuestAs much as I hate dialogue on CDs, it’s probably way to late to keep it off.
Though I am highly doubtful any dialogue will be on the CD. It’s just not Danny Elfman’s style… Though there was dialogue on BIG TOP PEE-WEE…

GuestHey, what’s wrong with Anthony Hopkins? He’s Welsh, so what possibly could be wrong with that? Anyway, I couldn’t b**ch the guy because he saved our mountain (Snowdonia). If he hadn’t bought it would have been taken over by some foreign executives trying to make it into “Fun World” or something. Why the hell am I telling you this? Sorry for boring the hell out of you guys.

GuestLewis: That is not the problem, spoken dialogue would take ALOT of effect away from the music. I have no problem with Hopkins but I agree with the others on here, there should be NO spoken word on the soundtrack CD.

GuestSoundtrack CDs are the only way to really hear and feel the music apart from the influence of the movie. I would be really disapointed if there was dialogue to take away from that…but that won’t stop me from purchasing it.
I like Hopkins, too, but please don’t talk above the music.-beth

Guestwell, the choral stuff elfman usually does in his scores is kinda like spoken word. I swear I heard an “oh” or two in them. plus the “ooo.. sorry.” in “wormlounge” from MIIB is spoken word. but then again, I don’t expect anthony hopkin’s “hello, clarece,” bit will be part of the song so much as an interupter. forget it.
lexi: back with more special effects! more star cameos! less story line! beetlejuice goes hawwiian!

GuestElfman probobly got some inspiration off of Oakenfold and his Apes mixe and decided to slowly incorporate voices into his music..but of course, what the hell do i know?

GuestI just got a response from the email I sent to Decca and I’m happy to report that there will be no dialogue on the CD.
Nat who is extremely happy with this.

GuestI think the ‘Hannibal’ score might have some dialogue. I can’t recall exactly as there is some reason why I stopped listening to it. If they had it on the ‘Hannibal’ score, they might be stupid enough to tack it onto ‘Red Dragon.’

GuestHannibal not only had dialogue, but it also had some sound FX.
Too bad, because I thought it was one of Zimmer’s best scores from the last couple of years (well, at least the parts that were written by Zimmer). The other composers that worked on the score put in superlative work as well – especially the reworking of the Blue Danube.
