GuestLet’s all try to be mature about this and stop stealing others’ screen names. I’ve had a couple incidents with this, and I find it annoying, quite frankly. For those of you who enjoy this practice, I suppose I should be grateful that you’re only assuming the identity of other online posters and not stealing citizens’ social security numbers and such; however, I find it silly and immature. I’m all for silliness and immaturity, as long as nobody gets angered and/or hurt in the process. I’m ticked off, so I don’t see your (marshmellow@yahoo.com, who has been posing as me) joke as very entertaining. I have to deal with immature students for 65-70 hours/week, 9 months out of the year; I want to come here and discuss things that interest me (namely Elfman’s film scores), not deal with brats who like to screw with people’s heads. I’m trying to remain fairly civil about this, but it’s really starting to piss me off – please stop it, whomever is posing as me.

GuestGetting under peoples skin is one of my many talents, even if spelling isn’t. I’m very selective with who or is it whom I like to toy with. I’m a huge fan of Danny’s and I come here to discuss Danny, not the functionality of your coffee dispenser. That really get’s under my skin. 21 going on 50? Boring

Guestthe question is WHY would someone feel the desire to pick your name out of the room and play impostor. Maybe its someone that you’ve spoken to before on here…and you irked him/her in some way. Or maybe it’s someone from your school! That would be a pretty insulting thing if it was true. I can see you spreading it around in certain circles that you enjoy Elfman — even a mention — and some little kiddie goes online, finds your watering hole, and promptly pisses in it. it’s incidents like these when i question the length of time i spend online. it’d be great if i could go back to 94, where the internet didn’t exist yet, and just stick to my console gaming, or even going outside and doing something adventurous…hmm…now that i think about it…

Guest“21 going on 50? Boring.”
Well, I’m me and you’re not; I suppose you should be grateful for that, if you think my life is so “boring.” I’m not going to defend myself to you; yes, I like to discuss Danny as well, that’s why I come here. So, without further ado, let’s get back to discussing Danny. This means that you’ll stop assuming my screen name and post under one of your own making, I’ll stop discussing the functionality of my coffee maker (although it DID relate to Elfman/Boingo) and other bits o’ chat unrelated to DE/Boingo, and we’ll get along just fine, Mr., Ms. or Mrs. Whomeveryouare.

GuestEwkay, do I have to step in here and play bad guy again?
Let’s all post as who we are. Obviously, we can’t have two people posting as Erika, so let’s be mature and quit this.
Unfortunately this board doesn’t require registration, but if it did, there’d be significantly fewer assholes.

GuestErika…your second and third posts sound like they are responding to someone, but the things you say don’t correspond to anything else on this thread. Who are you talking to??

Marshmellow definitely has a point here.

GuestBrian, Mr. Dantz is regularly nigelsimmons on this board. I guess that’d be me, huh?

Man, this thread is fun! lol!

GuestBrian – *that* “Erika” isn’t me (the Erika who’s writing this). He/she was directing those comments solely at me, at least in my understanding of this strange ordeal…this is getting weird (and confusing!)
Shock – yes, I know, it was fairly unrelated to Elfman (notice I said “fairly,” as in it was distantly related to a DE topic). Anywho, I’ve agreed to stop discussing unrelated DE stuff

-E (do I really have to start signing my name as “the original” in order to keep everybody straightened out on this? I certainly hope not, because then I can’t put in more “fun” signature additions…)

GuestErika, I’m sorry for what you’re being put through. I’ve had similar things done to me with people misquoting me or partially quoting me, responding to emails on message boards, that sort of thing.
However, I do find one thing very amusing about this thread and some of the previous threads along the lines of this one. It gets more response than a lot of the ON TOPIC threads.
I didn’t think much of that at first. Between July and October, there really wasn’t much to discuss. MIIB had been beaten to death and Red Dragon was all rumor. People had to turn to something.
But now? Danny’s got a new score out and not many people have anything to say about it and fewer want to discuss (have an actual dialog) it.
I won’t see the movie for a while. Can’t take my kids. Won’t get a sitter. I have to wait until their father has them and I have the time to go. It’s like a special aligning of the stars.
But my point is that I find it interesting that off topic or very loosely related threads generate more traffic than the actual Elfman discussions.
Erika, maybe you could forward all of your junkmail to the mershmellow. He/she/it was nice enough to leave an email address. Sounds to me like an attempt to make contact.

Guestpammy’s right. i noticed that some people were having a very long conversation about their habitat, (mosquitos, fall air, blah,) also that 3 day, million post celebration of friday the thriteenth ..and I have this strange urge to not look at what people are saying about red dragon. maybe when i see it i’ll be more up to it. plus, people are already talking anout the oscars! when they finally do come around, someone will be like ‘i can’t believe it.’ another person will go, ‘yeah.’ and that will be the end of it!

GuestPammy/Lexi/anybody else who is interested –
Well, I *said* that I wasn’t going to post any more Elfman unrelated threads…and I’ll really try to stick to that (excepting this post). After all, this is an Elfman site and I’m sure Ryan, and others (like Mr./Ms./Mrs. Marshmellow and Shock) get annoyed with the unrelated stuff…of which I’m guilty more than I’d like to admit.
Re: why people are responding to the unrelated topics more frequently than others…well, maybe we all have a lack of large, interesting social circles. I don’t mean to seem callous and pessimistic (and I’m not trying to label anybody here…other than myself), but there are more than a few regular posters on here…maybe it’s that we’ve found we like talking to those who share our same interests (Elfman/Boingo/film music), but don’t necessarily want to discuss the same things (Elfman/Boingo/film music) all the time with those people…you can only discuss something for so long without it getting insanely boring, no? (I hope that makes sense). I know I find many interesting people on here, and enjoy talking to them, but sometimes want to talk without discussing DE/ film scores. (Right, right, that’s what email is for…) I’m trying to think of a good way to do that, barring emails, so that Ryan and Co. won’t have to put up with so many unrelated topics. Hm…what about an Elfman-enthusiasts-discussion-board-with-mostly-Elfman-unrelated-topics venture? Just a few thoughts…

GuestWhy don’t you go and volunteer your time to the homeless and teach them how to read or something. Or perhaps just go for a walk and talk to your neighbor when you want to discuss your personal stuff. I would much rather discuss Danny and his music, without having to weed through your junk. Sorry to be so hard, but you need to get out and make some real life friends with actual flesh and blood. Don’t waste your energy on fluff or waste my time making me read and respond to it. This a place to come and discuss Danny. For example, if I started to get into my personal day to day @!#$, I would have to tell you that I enjoy taking a rip off the bong when I come home to take the edge off from working in a not so ideal environment. Or how I like to sit and draw or sculpt naked women.Or how I like to listen to a band called Weapon Of Choice as much as I enjoy listening to Danny Elfman. Do you really care to know my personal crap? Would you like me to post my own little inside jokes that only I can relate to and then behave as though you really care? I don’t think you would. I’m assuming you have a hard time relating to the real world and I am sorry for that, but many of us have that problem. I have a suggestion, Why don’t you post an ad in the classified section of your local newspaper and try and meet someone similar to yourself. The ad could go something like this: Voluptuous 21 years old Grade school teacher going on 50 looking for someone with passion for Danny Elfman’s music and other Elfman un-related stuff. Like Russian literature, sitting around eating pastry’s and drinking black coffee. Let’s make Heaven on Earth!… Now that is a great idea. Good Luck finding your soul-mate.

GuestWell, Marshmellow, since YOUR email address doesn’t seem to be genuine (seeing as how I tried to send you an email at the posted address, so that we could discuss this issue without bothering everybody else), I suppose I’ll have to respond to you here. I’ll make it short, and to-the-point: If you don’t like what I have to say, then don’t respond. It’s as easy as that. If you don’t want to “waste your time” reading my posts, then DON’T READ THEM! I’ll even tell you how you can avoid “wading through” all of the “junk” I post: go to Search, enter my screen name, and you’ll come up with all the messages I’ve posted within the last 30 days or so; therefore, you can avoid reading those messages by not clicking on those links. Simple, eh? It’s a wonder my small brain could think of something like that! I’m sure you’ll agree…
And another thing: I really do have “real, living, breathing” friends who are HUMAN, and I teach high school (not grade school). I wasn’t particularly interested in your recreational activities, either, but I’m not going to lambast you for posting them. Finally, I don’t want a boyfriend – or a girlfriend for that matter (I don’t swing that way) – so I really don’t think the personals are necessary. I’m mostly content with my life, but thank you EVER so much for your kind words of sympathy.
Now, kindly stop this idiocy…if you want to discuss this further, then you should stop wasting everybody else’s time (seeing as how yours is so precious), and email me directly. As for me, I feel that I’ve said everything I need to say to you. Good day.

Guest:flinch: yow. the marshmallow version of erika- maybe you should just change your forum name. it’s also best to do it now, just because.
lexi: the cycle repeats itself as the marshmallow begins to bring in her own frightening personal trivia and we only stray farther from elfman-related topics. let’s just hope we’ve evolved past counter-insulting. tune in next time!
p.s. and nobody catch her/him on the pastries (pastry’s) thing!
p.s.s. damn. i was about to send this when the wrath of erika showed up!
