    Hey Ryan,
I didn’t see this listed on your Shaiman site…

    http://www.soundtrack.net/soundtracks/database/?id=2290

I just found out the other day that Shaiman scored that episode and I’ve had the CD for years now.

I swear Matt Stone and Trey Parker are awesome. They make it a point not to give a shit if people watch their show online. They even say so on their site.

I re-watched “Bigger, Longer, and Uncut” recently just to admire the amazing score and songs written by Shaiman. It’s all quite amazing. South Park feels so complete when accompanied by a complete orchestra. It’s jut a shame that Shaiman left “Team America” for whatever reason, because that could have been awesome.

On a side note, if this week’s supposedly anti-Family Guy episode of the show is too harsh, I may be pissed at Trey and Matt…but only for a short abount of time.

I hear it’s not supposed to be anti-Family Guy at all. It’s just about Kyle and Cartman fighting over something Family Guy related. They did an episode on the Simpsons too that wasn’t bad or anything so I trust it will be alright.

I hadn’t watched the show in a while, probably since the movie came out, but after that Scientology episode aired I got all caught up again. Holy crap that was a great episode. The show gets better as the years go by.

    You know,

I watched the new episode and it didn’t really make fun of Family Guy as much as it made fun of censorship. Family Guy was just used as a double for South Park in the episode, which makes fun of religion all the time.

Basically, Family Guy depicted the prophet Muhammad and the country freaked out. It blows my mind how clever it was. There was all this symbolism. America literally buries their heads in the sand rather than embrace freedom of speach.

Also, they made fun of episodes being pulled over fear from one group or another. Remember the scientology episode was pulled by Comedy Central?

It ended up as a two-parter. In the final moments of the show, Trey Parker and Matt Stone literally dared Comedy Central to have the balls to show the second half.

Christ. That was an awesome episode.

Ha, awesome because they got away scot-free when they did an episode several years that actually did depict the prophet as one of the members of the “Super Best Friends.” Using Family Guy as a shield…quite brilliant. And they do admit that Family Guy is funny, but the commentary about the jokes being interchangeable and irrelevant is totally right, although I watch it anyway because they’re usually funny. I think this one was also meant to tell everyone, “out humor is NOT like Family Guy! Stop comparing us!” However, I’m getting more and more disturbed by the gruesome imagery they keep putting in. Two weeks ago, it was Chef getting impaled, having his face torn off, and being ripped apart. This week, it was Ike and Kyle being seared alive by a bomb’s blast. I’m going to have nightmares!

And keeping this relevant with film music, did you catch the music from “Team America” being played during the conclusion, when we’re told we need to find out if Comedy Central will puss out? Gotta admit, I liked HGW’s score for that movie and it worked well there.

They probably just do the gruesome stuff because they can. Remember when it was just construction paper animation? Now it’s completely computer animated. About the “Chef Returns” episode though, This can probably be seen as a counterpart to that too. Issac Hayes left because he thought the guys were being intolerant against religion. This episode went right into that criticism.

Oh god man i know a HUGE matt stone and trey parker fan. She got a picture signed by them BY them.. Well anyway did you know that they are musicians too? They do ALL sorts of music. If you’ve ever seen Caniball the Musical by them you’d be surprised. All there songs have really great humor. And trey parker’s voice is amazing!
