ParticipantRyan, could you make this post sticky? I think everybody on this board has a vested interest…
In light of the rumor that Hans Zimmer might score the Simpsons movie I made a petition showing that the public wants Danny on board. If enough signatures are garnered I’ll print out three hard copies, sending them to Richard Kraft, Twentieth Century Fox and Matt Groening. I don’t know if it’ll do anything, but — hey — it’s worth trying.

I’ll post this in as many places as I can, including my site. It would be helpful if many of you did the same. Maybe those in high places will see the light.
Let’s hope so at least. 2008 is still a while away.

KeymasterUnfortunately it doesn’t look like it’s a rumor. Gorfaine & Schwartz has posted the info on their website. I’ll make the thread a sticky, but I don’t like the chances of Elfman scoring the picture!

ParticipantI already posted on a few fan sites. Hopefully word will spread and Zimmer hasn’t been signed yet.

ParticipantTo be honest, I’m a Family Guy fan. The Simpsons never really did anything for me, other than Danny’s theme. Still, I’ve given my signature for Danny’s sake, because this would be the third time Zimmer came on board a project that Danny should have done (M:I2, Batman Begins). He got me with The Lion King, but it’s going to take The Da Vinci Code to win me over as a fan.

ParticipantYou know, I do like Hans Zimmer. Don’t get me wrong. Hannibal and Gladiator were good scores. I just don’t think this is a movie that he should do. Danny deserves it more than anybody else. He made that show more famous than it probalby would have been with that theme.

Participanthans zimmer scoring the simpsons would be akin to john williams scoring showgirls. it could be done, but…….

ParticipantHonestly, I think Alf Clausen should get the job. He has more than earned it.

ParticipantI completely agree with you. Even though Danny wrote the famous theme, it’s actually Alf Clausen who gave the Simpsons’ their musical identity. Who never sung a Simpsons’ song on his way to work ?

ParticipantI love Clausen’s music and he may have earned it but the movie would have to stand out and, since Danny’s theme is in the collective memory, it would be more than interesting to see him score a feature film based on it seventeen years after the fact.
It’s just like with the TV show The Critic. Hans Zimmer did the theme to that and if they ever made a movie, Zimmer should score it.

ParticipantI’m sure Danny would do a great job scoring The Simpsons again, but it’s Alf Clausen the one that should get that job. Unfortunately, the film scoring business is so big that I don’t think that some signatures could change anything…I’m sure they (whoever) have offered it to Danny first. Have you thought he maybe refused this job?
C ya
PS: As I said in other post, i’m sure Hans Zimmer will do a great music. He is simply an amazing composer.
