Danny Burton
ParticipantI was just wondering, did Danny record those choral parts of the score [especially the WONDERFUL “He’s Back!”] live in the studio with the orchestra or are those samples?
A few of them sounded like some of the choral section from the first score with slight variations of speed.
Does anyone know? I’m just curious.
I’m curious to know if in general, Sleepy Hollow and Edward for example, he records the voices live with the orchestra or are they mixed later on?
Everytime I see the documentary about the making of SW: Episode I and I see John Williams recording the Duel of Fates with that huge choir live I get the chills.
I really hope there’s some footage of the recording sessions of the score in the SM2 DVD.

GuestSorry, I don’t know, but I catalogue quite a number of soundtrack discs and it’s surprising how many have had the chorus recorded separately. I’m guessing that since the timing is so precise, it’s actually quite cost-effective to avoid using larger venues and having a large choir standing around most of the time doing nowt, and much of the magic is added in the mixing (I still gawp when I notice how different the balance of chorus-to-orchestra is between CDs and films with Elfman scores). I’m guessing (please note the word!) that Elfman’s music falls into this category.
