i’m disappointed by the bonus of the Spider-Man dvd (too promotional) and particularly by the one concerning Danny. Too short (about 7 min) and except a part where he explains how works the thematic aspect, nothing to remember of.
I have the same regrets for Raimi’s portrait. It’s a typical cast & crew “we’re the best, we love each other'” thing. In fact, the best description of Raimi’s talent comes from…..Danny ! He makes the link with the Coen Bros. and with the Evil Dead Trilogy and speak (briefly of course !) of his universe.
And that’s also what I like in Danny : most of the time, he’s really involved in the story, trying to undersand what is the motivation of that character, the meaning of that line, etc.
‘Cause to be an important composer, you must, before everything, understand cinema. ;-)

Don’t be surprised if Sony releases a bigger, even more special special-edition of SPIDER-MAN.

Only 7 minutes?! Certainly not enough Danny-ogling time for me! I demand more footage of Elfman! (‘Course, what my demanding it is going to do to change the situation…well, probably a whole lotta nothing). I’m with Ryan in that the studio is probably going to release some sort of super-special edition to capitalize on the financial and emotional stress that is the holiday season…Christmas, Hannukah (sp?), Kwanzaa gifts and such…

-E (more Danny drool time on the DVD commentary! Who’s with me? ::Hours pass::twiddles thumbs::whistles the choral part to Edward:: So…that went well, don’t you think?)

::stands up:: i’m with erika. now who’s with me?? ::shrinks back down:: give it a minute.

lexi: .. and the feisty elfman fans demaded a commentary track with isolated score. if only we had been given the full soundtracks earlier.. too much struggle for a stupid spider.

yeah i read on dvdfile (but didn’t checked myself) that there is a 2.0 english track not mentionned on the packaging that appears to be utterly….silent !!
So, we can all get upset a little more, thinking that they could use the track for a isolated soundtrack. :(
There are also some menus that contain part of the score that i never heard ! (notably the spider-man part on the second dvd).

i believe that piece is from the “baby rescue scene”, when spidey swings up and crashes into the window.

    i was thinking :
maybe this spidertheme variation comes from his earlier work on the movie. I read in “Soundtrack” that he tried to use the heroic spiderman theme with the peter parker side before finding the real peter parker theme. So perhaps this variation on the main titles’ introduction is one of those tests. Or perhaps not ! :D
