Guestno one have anything to say on Danny’s segment on the Spider-man dvd?
I am always grateful for any bone the studio throws our way as far as the process of the score goes, but i thought this was particularly well done with him talking about some aspect of the score, them flashing to it, then slowly removing the dialogue.
Anyway, it had a weak ending with Raimi, not the most articulate man, but who cares he makes cool movies.
Overall, I like the featurette, and the only thing I could wish for in addtion to what they have, is maybe an isolated score so we could get the rest of what they don’t give us on the album.
qu’en pensez-vous?

Guestwell, we poor fans take what we can get, then complain about it, realise it can’t be helped, and then anaylze what we’ve got. be thankful there’s anything at all, i spose. what sucks is my sister won’t see red dragon because her boyfriend said it sucked so i have no one to go with. and then she won’t see spider-man because she promised to see it with him! i saw it twice. can’t she? but anyways, danny elfman… um was it an old interview? say– pre or post may 3rd?
lexi: got a little talking to by the mirror in my room..

GuestHmm, don’t know if it was before or after May 3rd. The only thing I know is he doesn’t have any facial hair, so it’s relatively new.

GuestGot the DVD on Friday, but only got around to watching the special features today.
Hm. Maybe it’s because I was tired and it was too early in the morning, but I didn’t think it was that great. Long, but it was mostly filled up with crap. Like the talking fading out. First of all, there was something creepy about that, and second, I felt like it was more of an introduction to the wonderful world of film scores for the unitiated than anything else. Again, it’s better than nothing, but I wasn’t excited about it. Not enough Danny-talking, not enough good shots of the orchestra, I don’t like that conductor (I don’t even know his name, but I’ve seen shots of him conducting before and . . . yeah . . . don’t like him)
– Me (who recently went to a concert where the orchestra was almost always exactly one and a half beats ahead of the conductor . . . and found it highly amusing . . . but is still tired and is probably babbling nonsense at this point)

GuestI have whished that there could have been an Elfman commentary (at least he could have sat in with Raimi when he was recording his – it wouldn’t have been so dry; where is Bruce Campbell when you need him). At fist I found the sound and dialogue fading out a little weird to, I much prefer the extras (and both commentaries) on the Planet Of The Apes DVD. So, has anyone found out what content is on the MIIB DVD?
Nat (who is about to be on the road for about 4 hours today)

GuestPersonally, I think Elfman should not do anymore commentaries – unless he’s accompanied by someone else. I liked what Raimi had to say on his track, and I like how nearly everyone pointed out different things they liked about Elfman’s music. As for the featurette – I liked it. It even appeared that Elfman’s interview at the desk was ahot on film, not video like one would expect….

GuestI still have to find time to rent the Spidey DVD and watch the commentary…I also have to get up the nerve to actually spend money renting POTA. Watching that commentary would be nice, but I shiver at the thought of having to sit through that movie…again.
-E (who doesn’t like to spend money on unsatisfying DVDs…and who, like Nat, was also on the road for quite a while yesterday…I got a nice chunk of time to listen to my new CDs, though

GuestHas anyone tried to do the “record your own commentary” thing that is part of the CD-ROM content on the Spiderman DVD? I’m just wondering how that works?
Nat who has let someone borrow his Spiderman DVD
