    http://www.maxrebo.home.dixie-net.com/spiderman.html

The above link is not the apple thing yet again; instead it is a site dedicated to my attempt at transcribing the Spider-man score. I don’t know how long it will last, but the first 22 measures (attempt at the first 22 measures) is on there for you to take a look. So let me know what you think. On the site you will find 4 PDF files and a MIDI file.

Nat (who definitely has too much work on this, but hey I’m a geek)

for the second time, the link (not the above one, the one to click on a page to see the scoring of nat,) doesn’t work. someone tell me what to do.

the string rythmic session is not exactly the same, though it doesn’t disturb me. But i found the second part (the first real theme appearence) too loud and powerfull. What makes the Elfman one so great it that the theme is very serene, calm but still strong. Nevertheless you don’t have to copy Elfman’s work.

Good Luck (i follow your progresses) ! And be patient : I started transcription of movie score several times but never finished. It takes time and nerves. ;-)

Some of the harmonies and chord progressions are wrong i think. the exact chord progressions for when the brass first come in with the theme are..
Dmin, Aflat maj 1st inversion, Amin, Aflat maj 1st inversion, Fmaj, Amaj 1st inversion,Dmin, F# min 2nd inversion. put the theme over those chords and its works right…if thats any help to you!

Like I said it was a first attempt the other night, but I think I will just forget the whole thing and let someone else do it.

Wouldn’t it be more fun to try to write your own re-score of Spider-man, instead of just re-writing what’s already been written? (even if it does take skill to transcribe by ear, and whatever you composed would not measure up to elfman’s work…) But still, wouldn’t it be a more fun waste of time?

-+> Joe: who does not, unfortunately, have the time to waste, because he wastes it all on other meaningless things.

I was doing it just because there is no resource in which to study Elfman’s manuscript scores, and thought I would do it in order to help provide them for other Elfman fans who could read music and cared about it. But right now I have too much on my plate, which includes working on an independent film and a large score concert work. And that’s not to mention my actual work, teaching piano and part time jobs… Damn, I have no idea what I was thinking… This was too much work. It’s times like these I wished I were back in school.

Nat, who takes on these projects as if he is collecting baseball cards
