ParticipantI know it’s not specifically an Elfman topic, sorry bout that, but I was wondering if anyone has heard Clint Mansell’s score to the Fountain. It’s with the Kronos quartet and Mogwai. I really dig it, very minimalist (go figure) but there are some real nice textures in there.

I wonder if Elfman will ever get back to small ensemble writing… Oh and speaking of, his track “love theme” from Forbidden Zone, which is great, bares a striking resemblance to Satie’s Gnossiennes, especially no. 1 and 3. I rememer him saying it was an ode to Mr. Satie in the Darkened Theater liner notes. At least in the early days, when most are still finding their voice, he chose to model himself after the best: Satie, Ellington, Calloway, Partch, Herrmann, and Rota. And the Specials. What a guy….
