ParticipantI browsed through earlier posts and didn’t find anything about this, but I’m sorry if this is old news: it’s just that I came across a recent Rolling Stone magazine which features a nice interview with Brandon Flowers, lead singer from The Killers. There he speaks about having Tim Burton directing the video for the song Bones and this is what he says…
“I’d be kicking that song around for two years. I loved it to death, but it was old, and I thought it might end up as a B side. But [bassist] Mark [Stromer] had this idea to put brass on it, and it just brought it back to life. The trumpets reminded me of Oingo Boingo – growing up, I was a big fan, still am – and Danny Elfman was in Oingo Boingo, and he does music for Burton films. A light turned on. We couldn’t believe he said yes. It’s so great. It makes you feel like a kid when you watch it.”

KeymasterThanks, Nuno. I recall someone saying that the song reminded them of Boingo (sometimes an overused statement) and I guess this confirms that as fact!

ParticipantThanks for that!
The song does have a nice brass section. Don’t know if that’s enough of a Boingo-connection, but it certainly makes the song twice as cool. (*signed: undercover brass fetishist*)
