GuestHere’s a chance to voice your opinion about which movie score stood out from the rest. Here’s the best way we can do this: post your ten top choices for movies released this year and this year alone in the movie theater. These scores naturally don’t have to be available on CD to count and while we’re all loyal to Danny, that doesn’t necessarily mean that his three releases this year should be your top three choices. Use this thread to list your favorites, but don’t use it to rag on another people’s choices.
Since I’m starting this thread, I’ll go first:
1. SIGNS
2. ROAD TO PERDITION
3. RED DRAGON
4. THE RING
5. SOLARIS
6. INSOMNIA
7. SPIDER-MAN
8. BOURNE IDENTITY
9. STAR WARS EPISODE II
10. MEN IN BLACK III look forward to reading everyone’s lists.

Guest1.SPIDER-MAN
2.Attack of the Clones
3.Minority Report
4.Road to Perdition
5.LOTR TWO TOWERS(got it today)
6.K-19
7.Star Trek Nemisis
8.Red Dragon
9.The Time Machine
10.Four FeathersHow’s that?
I will take it to the grave that Spider-Man is a fantastic score…and Attack of the Clones has great repeat listening value. I got two towers today, but it’s good stuff…as always, this list is subject to change….:0)December 11, 2002 at 12:39 am #43356Anonymous
GuestI wasn’t that impressed with MIB 2’s score. I liked Red Dragon and Spiderman (he should get an oscar for this one, but he won’t). Insomnia had a great score also, composed by newbie David Julyan. Signs is also a grand score. Attack of the Clones. . . well. . . is Star Wars music. I wasn’t that impressed with it. The love theme was almost a rip from the Hook theme, but it was nice.

GuestI really like:
1) Spiderman
2) The Time Machine
3) The Two Towers
4) Signs
5) The Treasure Planet ( I will buy it tomorrow, but I will like it! I’m sure)
6) The Bourne Identity
7) James Bond: Die Another Day
The Road To Perdition ( Thomas Newman at his best)
9) MIB 2 ( Better then the first score)
10) The Four Feathers ( Yeah, a James Horner score with new music:)December 11, 2002 at 9:14 pm #43367Anonymous
GuestHaven’t been to 10 films, or even seen 10 films this year….but I’ll add a film score from last year (so what if it’s a year late): Yann Tiersen’s “Amelie.”
-E (who likes French films, even though she doesn’t understand what they’re saying…then again, she doesn’t understand what anybody says)

GuestE,
Since you like French films I just wonder what you thought of Brotherhood Of The Wolves (if you’ve seen it yet). I thought it was a great film that was more inviting than Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. And the English dub on that movie is remarkable – the best dub of a foreign film I’ve ever seen. Sometimes you would have sworn that they were speaking English.Nat who likes to see the dub version first (when available), then go back and watch the original soundtrack. I find it frees you up to enjoy the whole ambiance without scrambling to catch every subtitle (but then again I could always just learn language).
I will be posting my top 10 shortly

GuestI think the best dub I’VE seen is the one of “Run, Lola, Run.” It’s my new favorite film
(Yes, I know it’s German. I’ve taken quite a shine to foreign films as of late). I’ve heard of “Brotherhood of the Wolf.” That’s on my “to rent” list for Xmas break…what little of it I have. If it’s “more inviting” than “Crouching Tiger…,” I”ll probably enjoy it, as I wasn’t too impressed with that particular film. (Didn’t really like the score, either…so shoot me).-E (who likes the dubbed versions best, as well…yes, I’m lazy and find that I can’t find any films – at least where I live – that allow me to practice my fledgling Russian language skills)

GuestThe 4 Feathers! The 4 Feathers! The 4 Feathers! The 4 Feathers! …I can’t be bothered doing this again…you get the idea.

Guestnothing this year. just the same old recycled crap. I liked the intro to Spiderman from Elfman and I think thats it. and I have watched most of the movies others listed & more. Harry Potter 2 was just Harry Potter 1 recycled.
I think the only score worth putting will be LOTR the two towers, even if THAT is just recycled material from LOTR Fellowship of the Ring.
I am talking about American films, not worldwide.
So here’s the lamest top ten for your enjoyment:
1. Road to perdition <---totally predictable
2. The Four feathers <---predictable
3. Harry Potter <----same ol same ol
4. Star Wars attack o the clones <--same ol Williams nonsense.
5. …every other film that came out this year from what I’ve seenHappy Holidays!
– Jeffro
p.s.did Solaris come out?? I haven’t been watching tv for weeks
