GuestSo, here’s a bit of Elfman for your day.
1) Head into any Old Navy (the bastian of bad fashion) store across North America, and you might be lucky enough to catch “Dead Man’s Party”, which is part of the rotation of in-store tunes playing this month.
2) My friend told me that Elfman was on Access Hollywood yesterday, in a RED DRAGON related report. They showed the requisite before music and after music scene demo, plus they showed Elfman with his new lady-friend: Bridget Fonda.
I’ve always tried to keep Elfman’s personal life a non-topic here, but I figured, since it was on television, it’s not some prying, juicy rumor.

Guesti’m sure she’s a very nice lady….

GuestBridget Fonda? Really?!? Who would’ve guessed! Bridget Fonda…okay, yeah. (Still confused, but it’s his life, and the less I know about it, the better).
Old Navy finally got “untrendy” and is now playing Dead Man’s Party? Geez, next thing you know, they’ll be bringing back acid-wash jeans…ha! (Bad fashion mongers, I’d agree!) Thanks for the info, Ryan.

GuestThere are tons of pics of the two of them together if you go search the press photo sites.

Guestwell, ryan shouldn’t have set up this disscussion, but we can still call it elfman news, right?
bridget fonda’s pretty! how’d he get her? he settles for caroline thompson, when this girl, congrats to him! wonder what she sees in him?
lexi: she immedialtey signs off and plans to skip school and wait around old navy all day.

GuestSeems like Danny’s lady-friends keep getting younger (and prettier) as the years progress…first Ms. Thompson, now Ms. Fonda. Didn’t he have a girlfriend in her late-20s some time ago? “Little girls,” indeed!
I’ll wish ’em the best of luck…-E (who says to Bridget, “You can have Danny. I don’t want him if he’s no longer sporting the goatee.”)

GuestNot wanting to start a gossip column here or anything, but I think Sam Raimi might have something to do with Danny and Bridget…
Sam directed her in “A Simple Mind” and well… you know what happens? Sam decides to become the matchmaker and… Pow! Blamo! They meet… and the rest is, well… who knows? It sounded good at the time I made the Danny-Sam-Bridget connection?
I think I’ll get some rest now.

GuestSo Here is my questions: Which one of Elfman`s score is Ms. Fonda`s favorite and which one of Fonda`s pic. is Elfman`s favorite???
That would be almost impossible to know about but hey Danny did score Mission Impossible so why not
And while i`m hot on it why not just make your imaginations wild about it and just have some plain funny and have a guess, i know i gonna haveOctober 11, 2002 at 7:55 pm #42484Anonymous
GuestI’m guessing Ms. Fonda REALLY enjoys seeing Danny dressed up as Satan, so maybe her favorite score/film is “The Forbidden Zone?” (Hey, I think he’s pretty saucy in that film…). I’ve never really looked at Fonda’s pics – to be quite honest, never really paid attention to her – but she is quite pretty, so I’m guessing Elfman probably enjoys looking at her in general…as for specifics, well, let’s leave that up to him…

GuestDoes Elfman himself ever read any of these postings? If he does he must come away from it with a great sense of hightened ego. “What does Fonda see in him?”…*tisk tisk*

GuestBy the way…..Will Elfman ever stretch those vocal cords again? Sure he’s a great composer, but that voice does things to me. I miss it.

GuestAmen to that! Danny’s voice on “We Close our Eyes,” (the Farewell version), “Is This” and “Try to Believe”…damn…those are a select few tunes that make me melt like none other. I’d certainly like to hear him sing again…and I’d do almost anything to attend a Boingo Reunion tour, but the chances of *that* happening are slim to none! Ah well, I can always dream…

Guestdon’t forget – Fonda was also in Raimi’s Army of Darkness, and the very Burton/Elfman inspired film Monkeybone….
October 12, 2002 at 11:41 pm #42501Anonymous
Guesthell, no. if monkeybone was elfman/burton inspired, i’ll have to stop liking elfman/burton. monkeybone was just one of those random brenden fraiser fill-in-the-blank flicks:
example:
brendan fraiser is (dudleydo-right/george of the jungle/ a paleotologist/ a loser/ in a coma/etc.) who goes with (elizabeth hurley/ sarah jessica parker/ a stop-motion puppet/ a beard/ alicia silverstone/ etc.) who/that (is fucking annoying/ is the devil/ wants money/ loves him/ ). cameos. big laughs. gets the girl. the end.
I actually watch these movie more than once before suddenly realizing they are retarded. (except i avoided ‘the mummy returns.’)
sorry. just felt like complainin’. just watched bedazzled again last night.

GuestI rather liked Encino Man, but then again, I’m a big Pauly (sp?) Shore fan, and Brendan Fraser didn’t speak much…any relation to Howard, you suppose? Er…back to Elfman…Fonda was in Army of Darkness? I guess she was, wasn’t she? Wow, I’d completely forgotten about that

GuestActually, the “Tim Burton” inspired movie,”Monkey Bone”, was directed by the same person who directed “The Nightmare Before Christmas”: Henry Selick. I actually enjoyed that movie. I guess I just like oddball movies.

Guestbrendan fraiser’s best movie (at least for me) is Gods And Monsters – the movie about Bride Of Frankenstein director James Whales (?) with a good Carter Burwell score.

GuestI enjoyed George of the Jungle. My kids loved it and Rick Elfman was in it.
Happy kids. Elfman spotting. Sure, it’s worth the $1 rental fee.

GuestThanks, Pammy! They both look very happy – Danny a bit less “smiley” than Ms. Fonda, but seemed happy nonetheless. And he’s wearing a red shirt – anybody else notice that? I simply love red, so I found it to be especially endearing. Congrats to both of ’em, and best of luck (although I doubt if either one has ever visited this site).
Well, you find out something new every day, don’t you? I had no idea that Rick was in George of the Jungle…man, now I have to watch that. (It will give me an excuse to watch another silly movie with my niece, and further educate her on the Elfmans, too! We’ve been making Halloween cookies, decorations, etc and singing NMBC songs, which she really enjoys and I’m throroughly entertained by as well. Funny how I normally can’t stand small children; then again, she’s almost 7, and I’ve got a soft spot the size of the former USSR when it comes to her…)

Guestwow. that’s one big ass soft spot. well, somewhat similar to erika, i have a soft spot for impressionable kids. kids that don’t listen, well, they are just the product of all those awesome toys and interactive televison programs i never had.. i hate them. (inner child: “all i wanted was a powerwheel, godammit!”) wow. that little thing’s got a mouth on her.
now, i must also see this george of the jungle.. again.. for i never saw red in it. though, i went all the way through modern vampires and somehow missed donut cop.
you know what? here’s a music-themed (heh. themed.) bit of conversation. i saw the new west symphony do what it does, and all was lovely, (including chris o’reliy playing the concerto for left hand.. in a trench coat!) then, they had to play bolero. bloero-bolero. is anyone besides me annoyed by that tune? the good news is, i fell inlove with the bassoon, (someone blushes) bad news is, i had to listen to a million-minute track that repeats itself more than i do!
lexi: who feels it’s right to talk about music, because just elfman’s new chick isn’t what this site calls discussable.

GuestL –
If you were *really* cool, you’d know that the oboe is the most wonderful double reed instrument in existence – well, either that, or English horn (decisions, decisions…) Bassoon, schmasoon…actually, I shouldn’t make such snyde comments, as the poor bassoonists are all but ignored in most wind band/symphony lit…it’s really the oboe that gets all the solos (as far as double-reed solos are concerned…). I’ve noticed that Elfman uses a lot more bassoon than oboe in most of his scores…darn lucky bassoonists. Why, oh why, doesn’t Elfman love MY double-reeded instrument of choice as much as yours?
My niece is starting flute lessons in a few months…bah! She should play something quirky (like the oboe d’amore, ‘cept you can’t find ’em all too easily)…it fits her personality.-E (who will make no comment on L’s spelling skills…LOL! Nah, I only rip into somebody’s less-than-perfect spelling abilities if they’re taking issue with something, just to be contrary…)

GuestWhen George gobbles up all the coffee and goes on his hyper trip through the city, there’s that scene with the bongo players and dancers… Rick is one of the bongo players.
I think this might be one of the things where he gets listed as Aristede Sumatra in the credits. Not sure. A person more motivated than I might check IMDB.

Guesthee hee hee! i have a bit of trivia that i learned at ze symphony! I went backstage during the intermission. (which was very easy. though, some people looked at me strangley as i marched with purpose in search of my favorite conductor,) i waltzed (in 3/4 time, can you imagine?) into a room that read “boris botts” and instead of finding the conductor, i found the pianist chris o’reily! the one who played concerto for left hand! with his left hand! in a trench coat! okay, i’ll calm down now. what i learned from this individual was not only that his coat is an armani, but there is nothing english about the english horn! also, in france, they call it a “…” which is french for “crooked horn” because of the reed’s angle. neat, right? (crickets chirp [in waltz time, no less!] hello?) well, it wasn’t that neat, but you should hear chris o’reily speak french.
lexi: telepathic premonission- pammy is about to write about george of tghe jungle…
