GuestTah-ha! I just found something mildly amusing–at least to me, which isn’t necessarily saying much….
But anyways, I figure since Danny’s a fan of voodoo, and what with it being Halloween and all, it might be fun for some other bored people out there to spook their friends a bit: http://www.pinstruck.com/sendacurse.htm.
They’ll probably say “ha ha ha ha ha ha ha”–but hey, it’s something to do. Saucy!

GuestIt all depends on how you spell it: ju-ju, voodoo, voudou, etc….I think it’s one of those words.

GuestI think a little clarification is needed here. Voodoo is the positive or “light” side of the spiritual arts practiced in africa and other parts of the world including the US. Danny encountered it there in his teens while journeying through Africa and is a believer in that art. Hoodoo is the negative or “dark” side of the art and is not to be messed with as it is both powerful and quite dangerous, especially in the wrong hands.
Juju is the spiritual quality or inhabitation of an object like a doll or musical instrument left within it by a previous owner(s). Danny collects dolls which he feels have a certain amount of juju in them. Juju can be both positive or negative, as in the case of certain musical instruments. Mikey Hart of the Grateful Dead had at one time owned a damarus, a percussion instrument made from a human skull. The juju in the damarus was so strong that awful things began happening in his home and in Phil Lesh’s home when he borrowed the thing and it was eventually returned to Africa, after which the weirdness stopped.
All this might sound strange but it’s true and well-documented.November 1, 2002 at 4:41 pm #42762Anonymous

GuestThanks for the clarification, but the site noted above is really just a joke you can pull on people if you get bored. It only takes five seconds, and involves no great sacrifices or anything….at least I don’t think anyone’s died from an e-mail–I could be wrong, though!

GuestVery interesting stuff, Michael. I just might have to sell off that dummy that’s been sitting in my closet for the last 4 years (creepy looking little bastard, although that’s what makes him so cool). Maybe it would make things better . . . maybe would make things worse.
Evil Dead, the world will end on the day anthrax is sent via e-mail.

GuestDummy?? I thought that was your wife?? I know that we’re joking in context here but believe me the spiritual arts are not to be messed with if you’re not approaching them seriously.
Another example–have you ever gone house hunting and felt a presence or feeling of some type in a previously owned home? That’s juju. It’s for this very reason that my wife and I won’t buy a previously owned house, preferring to infest it ourselves first and let everyone else deal with our juju.
Cheers.November 2, 2002 at 6:15 pm #42769Anonymous
GuestI don’t believe in gods/goddesses/juju or any other sort of “religiously themed” stuff. It’s all horsepucky if you ask me…but to each his/her own. I’m not going to bash your beliefs, just that I don’t buy into them one bit.

GuestBeing 44 and married and a longtime Elfman/Boingo fan does take its toll on a guy, plus I’m also a musician so I have an excuse to be nuts! Insanity means never having to say you’re crazy.
