GuestOn the HBO MIIB documentury thingie I was a little suprised to hear that Will Smith’s “Black Suits Coming” was preformed with a full orchestra, of which Danny Elfman and Steve Bartek acted as orchestrators on. Infact, orchestrally, DANNY & BARTEK taught WILL the basics of composing and preparing for a Live Recording.
I thought this a little funny.

GuestNow that’s surprising! But it’s a fact that the orchestra parts in “Black Suits Coming” are above average for this kind of song… It sounded too powerful to be the usual P Diddy-like sampling. Guess we all agree that Smith is way better than P Diddy or Puff Daddy or Sean Combs or whatever he likes to be called these days, but I never thought that Smith was bold enough to do this kind of joint venture with one of the most original film composers in Hollywood. This is a very interesting and unexpected collaboration.

GuestI can’t say I’m dissappointed w/the news, though unfortunately, I can’t say the same for “Black Suits Coming”…..just the title pisses me off. oh well….if he wasn’t Will Smith I’d hold it against him…or maybe I will anyway.

GuestThat’s funny, If I were Elfman, I wouldn’t agree, but mayby it’s just I am envious.

Guestwhat i’d like to know is, why was mr. elfman not mentioned in the making of the film on hbo? he was left out of the spider-man one, too! i don’t think they even noted that he contributed to will smith’s little song.
lexi: missing out on 17 years of boingo makes one very cranky teenager.
