I was filled with shock when I learned that Mr. Elfman would not be returning to the Spider-man franchise. I had originally become interested and aware of his music when he scored Men In Black. Thousands of possibilities surged through my mind of what the music for Spider-man would sound like. Would it be a variation of the original 60’s theme song? Would it remotely sound like the melody from the 90’s animated series? I was full of anticipation for this movie which I was sure to be a success.
The lights dimmed, and the columbia pictures logo came up. High strung violins could be heard in the background. Then the marvel logo came up. Ba no ba no ba na Ba no ba no bana beeno bano. Then the webs and the added vocals. More instruments joined in and the the word SPIDER-MAN cane spinning in. The sheer precision and emotion of the music was inspiring. I immediately bought the movie score when it came out, and to this day it still hasn’t let me down.
I was a little dissapointed with the ommision of the Up the wall music, but the rest of the CD more than made up for that. I also missed the Pizza delivery music, late for school, and skidding on your back through traffic.
In order for me to listen to these tracks with the rest of the score, I had to pull them off the DVD using Sound Recorder and convert them to stereo files to burn a CD for myself only.

The pulsing and vivacity of the music inspires me in a way that no pharmacuetical drug can; it enriches my mind and allows me to freely express myself through art.

Danny, if you or anyone close to you reads this, I appreciate the work you have done and will do, and will purchase every album you come out with from here on.

    You will be missed.
