November 5, 2009 at 12:37 am #64720Descent Into MysteryParticipantAh, yes. Scrooged! With a new adaptation coming this weekend it’d be nice to re-visit that score.
November 5, 2009 at 5:57 am #64721Nick ParkerParticipantVery interesting that you mention that score, I was listening to it the other day. I am particularly fond of “Fifty Miles of Desert”, I love that staccato piano stuff that John Williams loved to write back in the 1970’s (the Main Titles from Earthquake perhaps being my favorite).
Now Playing: Peter Gunn from Henry Mancini. One of his best.

November 8, 2009 at 11:19 pm #64734detbatParticipantRE: Coraline
I have only listened to it a few times, but YES I have really enjoyed listening to it.
It really struck me whilst watching the film itself. The Main Titles are great.
I just got back from seeing A Serious Man and 1. Wow what another great movie from the C. Bros &
2. Bless them both, the sound designer & Carter Burwell for great use of soundtrack to provide sparse music aural landscape. Silence is plentiful but to great effect. Gotta love that minor third ostinato kick Elfman’s been on for the last half-dozen or so scores.

You have a score that you’ve never heard on your ipod?
I don’t mean to come off as grumpy, but if people don’t support more obscure film scores, it makes it harder for lesser-known albums to get releases.
November 10, 2009 at 12:40 am #64737elfboy91ParticipantA film composer friend of mine gave me a free copy a couple of weeks ago and I haven’t had a lot of time to listen to it yet. I don’t mean to come off as grumpy but i was just wondering if it was any good.

Or you’re talking about an advanced copy of the upcoming release ? (By tha way, I was hoping it would be out for Christmas… Any information on this???)November 22, 2009 at 7:51 am #64756TenderLumplingParticipantI know right..
