GuestDid Danny Elfman score the original Men in Black teaser trailer? It always sounded Elfmanesque and I have always assumed he did the piece.

GuestBelieve it or not… NO. It was the guy that took the reins of the BATMAN franchise after he left… GOLDENTHAL!!! *bum, bum, bummmm*
It was from Demolition Man (I hated that movie).
Is it just me or does Goldenthal purposely try to sound Elfman-esque sometimes?

GuestElfman did score the MEN IN BLACK trailer — but not the teaser.

GuestFor a while I thought just like Bodhi : The MEN IN BLACK trailer must be Elfman’s music. It did sound Elfmanesque.
Or rather Elfmanish. Like hellish, I mean. Because when I watched again Demolition Man two years ago I realized it was Goldenthal’s score.
Boy, do I hate Goldenthal. I can’t explain why. It’s visceral. From him I own Final Fantasy and Interview with the Vampire, but I hardly ever listen to it.– Squeezir.

GuestSqueezir, FF and Interview are masterpieces to me, you should really give them a careful listening. I also love In Dreams.
Elliot Goldenthal is one of the most gifted composer of his generation with Danny of course, and Howard Shore if you ask me…

GuestEB – I totally agree… I love Goldenthal, too – a very gifted man, indeed. Also – I don’t see how you can’t like Demolition Man! It’s a bit of fun, that’s all… I like it.

GuestIf you like anything from Goldenthal I would recommend his score to “Cobb” and “Michael Collins” (listened to that one again last night), his ballet “Othello” and his Vietnam Oratorio “Fire, Water, Paper”.
But what do I know,

GuestElliot Goldenthal is my other favorite composer, wow Squeezir, you have no taste in music. I mean, he aint perfect but neither is danny elfman! I HIGHLY recomend Titus, Michael Collins, Final Fantasy, Frida, Cobb, Alien 3, In Dreams, and Batman Forever (oh thats right, goldenthal is evil for taking over Batman, danny elfman chose to no compose for it anymore so shut up). He is a great man.
