I came across this last night. I didn’t see this anywhere on the board (and I lurk here regularly), so I thought it would be of interest to everyone. Basically it’s the 250 nominations for top 25 movie scores. The top 25 will be presented live on TV.
You can read for further details and download a list here:
    http://www.afi.com/tvevents/100years/scores.aspx
The list is in PDF format. Danny Elfman’s got ONLY 2!!! (atleast, that’s what I counted……ugh), but it’s a little hard to read because there’s so many names.
The program airs September 23rd, 2005.

And those two are, of course, Batman and Edward Scissorhands.

There was definitely some weird stuff on that list though….

My heart skipped a beat when I saw “Planet of the Apes” listed, and then saw that it was the original Jerry Goldsmith score, and decided that that score was awesome too.

Yeah, Feild of Dreams , E.T. , and Titanic. Gad.

I felt the list was reasonably good! There are a few misses, however; As Good as it Gets and Frida come to mind.

Rózsa, Herrmann and Steiner cleaned up — and rightfully so.

ET is a magnificent score, by the way.

You’re right, I don’t know what I’m talking about. I’m just glad Schneider’s List is on there.

Oh, and I wish Bruno Coulais’ beautiful score for Winged Migration was up there.

I think the top 25 will be presented live in concert, not on TV.

Apparently AFI film qoutes can warrant a show of their own, but not film scores.

Ah, I’d go see it, but I’m spending enough money as it is. Maybe if I don’t see Dead Man’s Party next month. Doubt it.

Wow. I’m thinking that some time away from the boards might do me some good.
