GuestImagine… A Peter Pan movie, scored by Danny Elfman…….!!!!! I think this is my biggest dream ever, in the world of film music
I just saw the trailer from the new Peter Pan movie. Wow, peter pan is definitely the most inspiring story for a composer. It’s magic, beautiful and dark at the same time, and don’t forget the “pirate action”…
I know John Williams’ Hook will always remain as one of the best pirate-score, and that a lot of people love Debney’s cutthroat island, but… an elfmanish peter pan… wow… i just can’t stop dreaming… What do you people think????Eric

Guesthey, james newton howard is scoring peter pan. of course en elfman peter pan would be the greatest thing ever, but i’m still a big fan of howard’s music, and i think he’ll pull it off well.

GuestI was never much a fan of the Peter Pan movies, although the over-all concept was good. I know nothing about the latest version they’re doing–in fact, I didn’t know there was one until now! It could be really snazzy if they latched onto some of the darker elements of the story and all–you know, the pirates, the fear, the never going home bit? I mean, they’ve done the kid-friendly version, so what are they doing this time ’round?

GuestI like Howard; I don’t much care for Pan. (I do like Hook, instead…as in, the movie AND the character!)

GuestUh…”the kid friendly version”? Barrie wrote it for kids and families…it would be unwise to falsely emphasize the “darker” side.

Guesti say that’d be awsome…but i think youve had a little too much fairy dust.

GuestYeah, but that’s my point. I mean, remakes don’t spark an interest to me, unless they vary from the original, you dig? It just doesn’t seem appealing to do the same thing the same way over and over and over. You could have darker stuff, and still make it acceptable for kids. I mean, there’s The Nightmare Before Christmas and all….
(And I know, it’s just wishful thinking for them to deviate from a kid-audience, but hey, we’ve all gotta have our dreams. I do think emphasizing the pirates would be snazzy–anyone who uses a skull as a mascot is pretty saucy)!

GuestWell, ok, but I don’t remember seeing a peter pan movie. I’ve seen a disney cartoon, a sequel by Steven Spielberg, but never a real Peter Pan movie… and that’s the one!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

GuestWell, the cartoon one was the one I was talking about….I mean, just because something’s animated doesn’t make it any less of a “real” movie, does it?
Anyways, I’m just hoping they don’t do the same movie as the cartoon one, but with actors and such, you dig? I say, if you do a remake, shake things up a bit!
(And what did I do to merit so many exclamation points? Yah! I’ll give you a couple to go on, although they’re not to be taken seriously)!!
