GuestAm I the only one that wouldn’t mind if Mr. Elfman picked up some more animated movie musical projects? (That is, if he is (or has been) offered such projects.) He did quite well with NmBC. I’m not sure about his views with animated projects, though. Do any of you know?
I would love to see him do another project with an animated movie musical in a way that he does scores mixed with lyrics he’s written himself. I really enjoy the lyrics he writes.
This is just my opinion, though.

GuestI like that idea, too. None of the studio type movies by Disney, but more original ones (like NmBC). It is impossible to improve on the perfection of Nightmare, but Danny Elfman is brilliant. I hope he does, too!

GuestI would reeeeeeeeaaalllly love to see Pixar do a movie created, written & directed by Burton, with Elfman’s music. Something NMBCish, perhaps. Pixar are clearly the new age of animation, and I love them (but it sometimes bugs me that we’re losing the old style a little). But movies like a bug’s life, Monsters inc. etc. really crack me up (with the exception of ANTZ – that was terrible!). Even the characters’ movement style is beautifully executed, down to a T! Anyhoo… I think having Danny singing again might be cool, too (although, unfortunately, I doubt he’d want to do that again… it might sound a little too ‘Skellington-esque’ as well). So, yes –
I propose an burton/elfman collaboration with pixar. (phew – that took a while)>¦:o)

GuestAwww . . . I loved ANTZ . . . I thought it was way better than any of the Pixar crud. I think it’s smarter and I like having an animated movie geared towards an older audience.
Personally I don’t care if Elfman does any more musicals, I just want him to keep churning out good music

– yeah, that would be Burton’s first ‘animated’ ( stop motion ) feature, since he didn’t direct NMBC
Selick has a cool new project in the works also

GuestThe Life Aquatic with Bill Murray and directed by Wes Anderson. I’ve yet to discover Wes Anderson’s brilliance that everyone speaks of.

GuestAah… Wes Anderson – that sounds familiar to me. And yesss – I love Bill Murray. Isn’t Scrooged an excellent movie. They play it every year, and for some reason, the end always, every single time, brings a tear to my eye. I guess seeing America’s biggest sourpuss spreading christmas spirit just gets me here [slaps chest] *sniff *

GuestI want to see The Life Aquatic. I know Bill Murray is in it and Henry Selick is in charge of the animation, but does anyone have any other details?

GuestGood point jeff. I should also note for those that don’t read the credits or listen to the music at the end of a movie, that there were three credited names under the name of very small company (called “Pixar”) listed in the credits for Nightmare Before Christmas. CG animation is cheeper and less time consuming than stop motion, but I thing Burton’s work would be better expressed through the feeling of Stop motion as opposed to CG.
By the way, who owns Pixar now? I know that they recently broke their distribution deal with Disney, and that cofounder (and and CEO of Apple Computer Inc.) Steve Jobs owns a tremendous chunk of their stock, and that sense his return to Apple, Apple Computer has also acquired stock in the company, but is there anyone else with any control over the animation power house? If you don’t know, don’t worry about it. I only ask because I am too lazy to Google out the information myself.

GuestPixar signed a deal with Disney to do 5 animated movies, their contract is now up after having fulfilled the contract. They are now free to accept offers from any film distrubution company. Steve Jobs still owns PIXAR (after the initial sale from George Lucas back in the 80s).
