GuestYes. Everything Danny does is thoroughly saucy. Granted some of his work is better than others–but, it’s a consistant sauciness, nonetheless. I get a kick outta how he handles everything, really. I mean, he’s got some very interesting ways of not only conveying a message, but presenting it, as well.
I mean, I dig when he’s got happy lyrics done in a sad way (like Lost Like This), And nothing is snazzier than the over-lapping of the chorus and him singing in Insanity, so you get the kiddies singing “Say hello” while he’s singing “Dead” and that’s just fantastic.
And I like that he’s very original in everything he does–I mean, I can’t stand love songs. They’re just crappy, because they’ve been done to death. But Danny’s–well, I mean, even his love songs sound authentic, you know? I mean, he’s not saying the same old phrases over and over again.
And I love songs like Change and Water–just because they’re probably the most snazzy songs I’ve ever heard. And, to top it all off, Danny’s voice doesn’t exactly hurt things, either! I mean, by all means, the boy has the most fantastic voice.

GuestWater is one of my favorite, but it is only a demo. I wish they went further with it, with a live string orchestra and all. The only version I can find is a shitty 96k version mp3.
Anyone know where I can find a better version?March 20, 2004 at 6:19 am #49026Anonymous
GuestThe only version of Water I have is on the Farewell disc (CD, DVD, cassette tape–pick one). So I’m of no help what-so-ever when it comes to finding music in other formats. I kinda like the simplicity of the music in the song, though.

GuestOh, so they actually put it on a their last cd, eh? It must be live, then, I’m guessing. Cool, I’ll check it out.

GuestEvil Dead, Where are you from? I mean where in the world are people using the words snazzy and saucy these days? I’m not knocking you, I am just curious is all, eh? It’s kinda far out and wild….dig

GuestI’m from the U.S. Ohio, to be exact. (I’m secretly jealous of people who can speak more than one language, so I have to liven it up somehow).
Yes, the song Water is live on the Farewell album and it is the most fantastic thing ever!

Guestyes, I think the Farewell “Water” is better than the demo. But speaking of demos, the “Lost Like This” one is muy *saucy*!
And for that more vintage Oingo Boingo, horn section feel, “Something Isn’t Right” is the snazzy-ist.-beth

GuestBeth – “Something Isn’t Right” is HOT (with 5 T’s). Nice choice

Evil Dead – yes, we both know that Danny has the sexiest voice. Now it’s just a matter of exposing other people to the Elfman vocal gravy and they’ll be lining up around the corner for anything Boingo. For the record, I think Danny’s voice sounds the best on “Spider.” Anyone else feel that way?
My all-time favorite song is “We Close Our Eyes,” the Farewell Album version with the live accordion. Gives me the shivers and trips down memory lane every time.

GuestAnyone know the lyrics from his Batman theme? They come 7 minutes into the theme, they sound so glorious and fitting, but I’ve always wondered what they were saying.
