GuestI have a soft spot for track 12 (there are some everso subtlke and beautiful moments), but my hackles always rise for the first few minutes of track 13: “Hulk’s freedom”.
Since the movie’s not out here yet, can anyone tell me what he’s doing here? Presumably running?
Finally. My score verdict: preferred Spider-Man’s main titles – much more ambitious on all accounts. Warmer score and humour to match a crowd-pleaser of a film. The Hulk score manages to be the Cinderalla at the Comic Book Music ball, and I think hardened post-1996 Elfman fanatics the world over will develop a warm feeling for it over time and appreciate how much there is hidden away in the overlong disc. Odd indeed to have an Elfman score without a truly stand-out cue or couple of cues. Unlike Spider-Man and MiiB of last year, I just can’t work out what would be included in a MFADT3 suite.

Guestin “Hulk’s Freedom”, I believe he’s leaping ala Spider-Man away from the military compound, w/ wind in his face you can see how determined and heroic the big green really is, kinda corny but great cue

GuestUm, I like all fo the tracks although the Main titles is pretty cool. Sort of a mini-overture. Love that 6 note desceding motif. It’s so brilliantly utilized in this score. I don’t have the CD in front of me but the last track is kinda neat to (not the crappy song, the one before it).

Guesti don’t have a favorite track, really…
but, i love the opening and closing moments of “hulk out!”
“truth revealed” is gorgeous
and, despite the criticism the middle-eastern influences have recieved, “captured” and “hulk’s freedom” are very powerful , in my opinion.June 28, 2003 at 7:04 am #45731Anonymous

GuestEnglishman, I think we share similar tastes in Elfman music. I love the Spider-Man main titles (as well as every other note in the score). My favorite Hulk tracks are “Main Titles,” “Captured,” “Hulk Out!,”(which features some classic Elfman elements, such as the powerful brass and percussion as well as the really quick high-pitched violinstrokes) “Hulk’s Freedom” (and I’ll tell you that in this scene, Hulk is making enormous leaps across the desert without any military pursuit), “A Man Again,” and “End Titles.”
I’m a big fan of the classic Elfman sounds that are in his scores, they make me very happy to hear them and say to myself, “yep, that’s Danny Elfman all right.”
