How exactly does danny orchestrate his music??? i’ve asked before, but no one really told me. i know bartek does it…but how much does he do???does danny play the music out for all the instruments he wants and then give the recording to steve bartek to write out and tidy up for orchestra?? i know thats how i do it…play it first, then i type it out on sibelius. i read somewhere that danny did some orchs for dolores claiborne. is this true?
I think/hope thats what he does cus i’d hate it if all he did was write up some piano part and Steve put that idea into an orchestra like Williams does

Ok, ok … wtf is going on here?
Danny’s mentioned that he takes various samples from his library that he thinks could fit the movie. Then he creates a “mock orchestra” with those samples. He doesn’t just compose on a piano and give it some orchestrator-dude and say, “here”!
I’ve wondered exactly the same question. Refering to some articles about how Danny works, what kind of equipment, synthesizers, samples etc. he uses, I’d guess he orchestrates pretty much the sound what he wants by himself. After that Bartek & co, like you said, tidy up the orchestration and make it “pro”.
So this is just my guess, hope somebody could tell us detailed information.
P.S. Does Williams really write only piano parts which someone else orchestrates???
thanks. as far as i know williams does only do the piano part. and he has the serious ass cheek to not even credit his orchestrator!!! danny’s the best film composer.

it sounds like something i (and we) should know about
Williams in an article with the LA Times last year explained that he composes right onto the score page which is extermely old school.
He has an office/studio in the Amblin Entertainment section of the Universal lot that houses a grand piano, a small kitchenette and that is it.
On the last Harry Potter film though, the music was “adapted” by some other guy but composed by Williams, whatever that means. I guess he wanted to focus his energies more on Catch Me if You Can and Minority Report instead.
Elfman does his mock ups using Performer, ProTools and I think Giga Studio all run on like two or three G4 Macs, I think there are articles on the Apple and Emu sites about his set up.
I don’t think he uses GigaStudio.
True, Williams writes with piano, but his scores are COMPLETE with instrument designations and everything. If you’ve ever seen any 4-6 staff score sketches from him, or Goldsmith, you would understand (or from any golden era composer for that matter). As for why Williams only credits his Orchestrator on the film, I’ll answer that latter, right now I don’t have the time.

what did the mp5 say back, well im no beretta but those bullets look to be hollow pointed and since ur clip is round ur hollowness can be seen as inevitably inaccurately mystifiedd.
