GuestAnd the nominations for best score are:
Klaus Badelt (Pirates Of The Caribbean: The Curse Of The Black Pearl) (Buena Vista)
Danny Elfman (The Hulk) (Universal)
Jerry Goldsmith (Looney Tunes: Back In Action) (Warner Bros.)
Thomas Newman (Finding Nemo) (Buena Vista)
John Ottman (X2: X-Men United) (20th Century Fox)
Howard Shore (The Lord Of The Rings: The Return Of The King) (New Line Cinema)The Hulk actually wound up with 4 nominations including Danny’s (Best Sci-Fi film, Jennifer Connelly, & Special Effects were the other ones), but Big Fish only received 2; one for Best Fantasy Film, and one for Albert Finney (Best Actor).
I’m glad to see Jerry Goldsmith receive a nod for his “fun” Looney Tunes score.
On another film music related note, John Williams will receive a Lifetime achievement award this year from The Saturn Awards. Go Johnny!
My favorite show on TV (although right now it’s not on) was nominated for its 4th Best show award for the 4th time in a row. FARSCAPE (it was only on for 4 seasons)!!!

GuestYeah, and Elfman usually does pretty well at the Saturns, too! He’s been nominated five previous times, and has won all five times!

GuestWell, it’s not like the Saturn Awards come with a lot of prestige or anything!

GuestNice to see Ottman given the benefit of the doubt. Film fans were divided, I remember.

GuestFINALLY! Crispin Glover is nominated for “Willard.” I wasn’t the only one on Earth who thought his performance in “Willard” was possibly the best performance from an actor in 2003. Too bad they didn’t nominate Shirley Walker as well. I’m surprised “The Hulk” was nominated instead of “Big Fish.”

GuestElfman is to the Saturn awards what John Williams is to the Oscars.

GuestI really loved the Hulk score, don’t get me wrong, but I’m hoping that John Ottman wins. I fell in love with the X2 score, and it hasn’t received much recognition. The Pirates of the Caribbean score wasn’t bad, but I listened to the DVD commentary and Gore Verbinski said that Klaus Badelt composed a bit of the music, with 15 other composers writing different themes.
Since I mentioned Klaus Badelt, is there anyone who can help me figure out how to pronounce/stress “Badelt?”
